Kerry: Biblical Responsibility To Protect Muslim Countries From Global Warming

"...you can see this duty, or responsibility, laid out in scriptures clearly..."

In a speech on U.S.-Muslim relations Wednesday, Secretary of State John Kerry told an audience that it was our biblical responsibility to protect Muslim countries from global warming.
In remarks that sounded more like a sermon than a policy speech—and in which he struggled repeatedly to say the key word, “inextricably”—Kerry attempted to draw connections between the “faiths” and “fates” of Christians and Muslims, saying that the Bible teaches us that is it our “duty to protect and sustain His first creation: Earth, the planet.” Muslim-majority countries, he argues, are among the most vulnerable and therefore it is our biblical “responsibility” to protect them.
...our faiths and our fates are inextricably linked. And that is profoundly why we must do this now. Because they are linked. Our fates are inextricably linked on any number of things that we must confront and deal with in policy concepts today.
Our fates are inextricably linked on the environment. For many of us, respect for God’s creation also translates into a duty to protect and sustain His first creation: Earth, the planet.
Before God created man, He created Heaven and Earth. Confronting climate change is, in the long run, one of the greatest challenges we face. And you can see this duty, or responsibility, laid out in scriptures clearly, beginning in Genesis.
And Muslim-majority countries are among the most vulnerable. Our response to this challenge ought to be rooted in a sense of stewardship of Earth. And for me and for many of us here today, that responsibility comes from God
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
