Austria has been rocked by the murders of four women over a span of eight days, with migrant suspects in three cases.
A 21-year-old, originally from Ethiopia and holding Spanish citizenship, is suspected of stabbing his own sister to death at Vienna's central train station on Tuesday.
Police are searching for a motive and the man is now undergoing psychiatric evaluation, according to Kronen Zeitung.
On January 13, the body of 16-year-old Manuela K. was discovered by her mother under a pile of leaves in a park in Wiener Neustadt. She had reportedly been strangled.
Police arrested Yazan A., a 19-year-old Syrian migrant who was already known to police.
Yazan had allegedly dated Manuela in the past, and police were reportedly aware that he had harassed and abused her.
Police say he confessed to the crime, but showed no remorse.
On January 9, Roland H. reportedly stabbed his former partner in front of a residential building in Krumbach, according to Kurier.
Silvia K. suffered six knife wounds and Roland was charged with her murder.
On January 8, an Austrian citizen of Turkish origin stabbed his wife at least 38 times in front of their children, according to Compact.
"According to police, Senol D. is to be regarded as 'Islamist fundamentalist,'" Compact reports. "Since summer 2018, more than 30 reports have been filed against him."
Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl has responded to the rash of killings, calling for changes to Austrian asylum law and a zero-tolerance policy for migrants who commit crimes.

The treaty will reportedly strengthen the existing ties between Germany and France, in particular, in the fields of economic, foreign and security policy, education and culture, research and technologies, climate and environment, as well as cooperation between border regions and civil societies.
The new Franco-German treaty is intended as a step towards a European army, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has stated during a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“We assume the commitment to develop a common military culture, common defence industry, a common line for arms exports. Thus, we want to contribute to the formation of a European army”, Merkel said.
She said Germany and France would assist each other, including militarily, in the event of an armed attack on their territories.
The two leaders are meeting on 22 January to sign a treaty on further boosting Franco-German cooperation.
The new agreement has been developed on the basis of the 1963 Elysee Treaty, which greatly contributed to the historic reconciliation between France and Germany. The purpose of the new treaty is to enhance cooperation between the two states and prepare for the challenges they face in the 21st century, according to the Elysee Palace.

He is the one and only, Martin Selmayr, a German, and a civil servant, now Secretary General of the whole European Commission, since 2018.
The 47 year old is feared as the most powerful man in Europe and was even called “a monster” by his very own boss.

His threats and maneuvers are legend as a fierce infighter who takes no prisoners.
He has been quoted by the European press as saying that the EU must be “punitive in its negotiations with Britain” as a signal to other deviant countries.
Selmayr is said by POLITICO to be “arguably the most powerful right hand man ever to prowl the upper halls of the Berlaymont” in Brussels—the EU’s HQ.

He refers to himself as “the adult in the room” and as “someone you want in charge” in tumultuous times.
An ardent federalist, Selmayr believes fervently in just one thing: the United States of Europe.
He is also very positive on the need for a EU army.
As the architect of Jean-Claude Juncker’s vision for Europe, Selmayr is overtly anti-American.
He championed the Spitzenkandidat system, which brought his drunken and ineffective boss to power, with none other than himself as the real power behind the throne.
He brokered that deal with Merkel’s Germany, which was seen as nothing short of a putsch.
This amounted to a naked German takeover of Europe and its institutions.
Selmayr is on record and makes no secret about his plan to establish the EU as an all-powerful supranational/globalist entity in a multipolar world to challenge the US.
The European Parliament last year adopted a resolution, with a majority of 71%, that called for the resignation of Selmayr, the former right-hand man of Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker whose rushed promotion was criticised as “a coup-like action”.
Who is this almighty shadowy Selmayr figure?
As a hugely divisive person, Selmayr has risen quickly to the top of the EU heap.
One Dutch MEP called his promotion a farce, arguing it “destroys all credibility of the European Union.”
Known to be wildly and blindly ambitious, Selmayr makes no bones about his power grab.
Others refer to it as what it truly is: cronyism.
A careerist, Selmayr is hell bent on his own accomplishments and extended role.
He knows he has benefitted enormously from his patron, namely- Jean-Claude Juncker, the former Prime Minister of Luxembourg who was wedged in as President of the European Union back in 2014.
The EU is an unelected, bloated, overpaid, bureaucracy and is known to be an “old boys club”.
Sylmar fits in perfectly.
He does not play by the rules but instead bends them to his own advantage.
He is known to be a leaker and was accused of leaking very private information from a dinner at Number 10 in London, where Theresa May was in talks with Mr. Juncker.
It was done to damage her.
Jokingly perhaps, the former German Minister of Finance quipped, “Do you know the difference between Selmayr and God? God knows he is not Selmayr.”
Selmayr is referred to as the UN-civil servant in the corridors of the EU and is feared by associates and detractors alike.
Born in sleepy Bonn, West Germany during the Cold War in 1970, Selmayr has painted himself in near mythical terms.
He is a very clever lawyer and a spin-doctor of some acclaim.
He has played the system like a virtuoso violinist and in the process has created many enemies as well as a spoils ladder of those deeply indebted to him.
The EU powerbroker received a doctorate from Germany’s Passau University in 2003 and has very deep ties to the CDU Party there and to Mrs. Merkel and her inner circle.
Sylmar is best understood as a Eurocrat. A badge he wears with great pride.
He may be a German by ancestry but with the mantle now of representing ALL of Europe.
His family roots are most noteworthy. They tie him on both his maternal and paternal sides to the Nazi Wehrmacht.
His grandfathers on both sides were important Generals in WWII — for Hitler.
They would be proud.

Dutch politician, once a Muslim critic, announces conversion to Islam

For years, conservative politician Joram van Klaveren, advocating alongside outspoken anti-Islam leader Geert Wilders and his PPV party, was known for his vocal criticism of Islam.




Klaveren campaigned ad nauseam in the Lower House against Islam in the Netherlands, calling it “a lie,” and referring to the Quran as “poison.” He also pushed for a ban of the burqa, and mosque minarets.

So his announcement this week that he has converted to Islam came as a shock to many of his former friends, colleagues, and political followers in the Netherlands.
“If you believe that there is one God and that Muhammad was one of the prophets, besides Jesus and Moses, then you are formally Muslim,” Klaveren told a local radio station this week, explaining his change of heart.

Around five percent of the 17 million Dutch population is Muslim, according to the Dutch Central Statistics. And despite the outspokenness of the likes of Wilders, the religion is reported to be gaining in popularity, and predicted to have doubled by the year 2050.
The prominent political figure, who grew up in an orthodox Protestant Christian environment, said he made the switch official in October last year. He said his change of heart came through the process of researching a new book entitled “From Christianity to Islam in the Time of Terror.”

He further described the change to Dutch papers as “a religious homecoming,” and one that his wife supports.
