Victims to file injunction to stop Canada’s payment to jihadist Omar Khadr

The decision to pay Canadian jihadist Omar Kadr $10.5 million of the hard-earned money of Canadian taxpayers is being opposed by two victims of his jihad.

The woman made a widow by al-Qaida terrorist Oma Khadr and a soldier blinded by the grenade Khadr threw are seeking to stop the Trudeau government from paying the former Gitmo detainee $10.5 million in “compensation.”

Two years ago, an American judge in Utah awarded $134.2 million in damages to Tabitha Speer (the widow of Sgt. Chris Speer) and Layne Morris in their lawsuit against Khadr. The plaintiffs had little to no expectations of ever receiving the money, but deemed the judge’s verdict to be more of a statement. But now that the Canadian government has decided to pay Khadr $10.5 million for being interrogated under “oppressive circumstances” and also to apologize to this jihadist criminal, Speer is now filing an emergency injunction to stop the payout to Khadr. Speer and Morris are:

expected to ask the Ontario Superior Court… to honor a 2015 Utah civil court order that demanded Khadr pay them $134 million.

Canadians should be outraged (and many are) that their money is being handed over — without their permission — to Khadr. The twisted thinking that is manifested in awarding millions to a murderous jihadi who inflicted untold suffering upon innocent people is one reason why jihadists claim so many victories in their war against the West.
Let’s hope that Ontario Supreme Court will rule in favour of the victims of jihad terror.

Tabitha Speer, widow of Sgt. Christopher Speer, and Layne Morris are expected to ask the Ontario Superior Court on Wednesday to honor a 2015 Utah civil court order that demanded Khadr pay them $134 million.
“They are trying to get an emergency injunction in a Canadian court to have their award in the United States enforced in Canada,” The Globe and Mail is reporting an unnamed source as saying. “Their desire is to have U.S. courts enforced in Canada, which would mean that any money that goes to Mr. Khadr would go to them.”
Because of the cross-border jurisdictions, it is unlikely that Khadr’s victims will ever see any of the money.
Khadr’s lawyer, Dennis Edney, told the Globe and Mail that he could make no comment on the issue because “that is the arrangement with the government.”
The former Conservative government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper took a hard line on Khadr, refusing to recognize him as a “child soldier” as much of the Canadian media now describes the man who pled guilty to murder.
Harper’s successor, Conservative opposition leader Andrew Scheer, has condemned the potential pay-out to Khadr. He took to Twitter on Tuesday to say, “Canadians know this is wrong. If Omar Khadr is truly sorry for what he did, he’ll give every cent to Tabitha Speer and her two children.” Scheer did not respond to requests from The Daily Caller for further comment.
The Supreme Court of Canada has denounced Khadr’s interrogation at the hands of both Canadian and American authorities…..
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has refused to either confirm or deny the apology and payment to Khadr, obliquely referring to a “judicial process underway…is coming to its conclusion.”
An email from the Conservative Party of Canada to supporters was not so vague:
“Omar Khadr took the life of a husband and a father, and now the Liberal government wants to reward him with tens of millions of your dollars.
“Khadr is only alive today because of the medical treatment he received from U.S. forces after he killed one of their comrades.
“And now, thanks to Justin Trudeau, he will be one of the wealthiest men in Canada.”

Canada: Trudeau government has already quietly paid $10,500,000 to jihad murderer Omar Khadr

Never mind the 50,000-strong petition against the Trudeau government calling upon Trudeau not to award the notorious jihadist Omar Khadr $10.5 million of taxpayer money; and never mind the injunction filed by the widow of Chris Speers, whom Khadr murdered, and by Layne Morris, whom Khadr blinded in a grenade attack, to block that money being paid out. The Trudeau government has already “quietly paid” out the $10,500,000 to this jihad murderer, and the check has been already cashed, “according to a source involved in the transaction.” This makes the injunction moot. Canadians had no say in the matter — even those who can’t afford to feed their children three meals a day and can’t afford prescription medication or dental care.
This sends a loud message to jihadists: the younger you start them, the better, since they will be held less accountable and may well profit if anyone tries to interrogate them. Their rights trump all, including those of the innocent people they kill.
So why frown on young Palestinian jihadists who are being trained to blow up Israelis at summer camp? They, too, will be rewarded by the Palestinian Authority, which receives billions of dollars in charity money, including money from taxpayers in the West. Omar Khadr is in good company, and thanks to the Trudeau government, he is now a rich man, having earned 10.5 million dollars from the maiming of Morris and the murder of Chris Speer, who was only 28 years old and the father of two young children when Khadr killed him. Disgusting.

The Trudeau government has quietly paid a $10.5-million settlement to Omar Khadr in a move that circumvents legal efforts by two Americans to prevent him from receiving compensation for abuses he suffered as a teenager at the U.S. military detention facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
The payout to Mr. Khadr and his legal team was given on Wednesday and cashed immediately, according to a source involved in the transaction. Legal settlements do not fall under taxable income, so Mr. Khadr will not have to pay taxes on the $10.5-million.
“I am not in a position to comment,” Mr. Khadr’s Toronto lawyer, John Phillips, said when asked by The Globe and Mail on Thursday to confirm the payment. Justice Department lawyer Barney Brucker also refused comment.
The payment halts efforts by lawyers for the widow of a U.S. Delta Force sergeant and a retired U.S. special forces soldier from seeking an emergency injunction to stop Ottawa from giving the multimillion-dollar settlement to Mr. Khadr and his lawyers.
“The injunction is moot. It is absolutely moot,” University of Ottawa law professor Amir Attaran told The Globe. “Plus, if they are smart, that money is not sitting in Omar Khadr’s name, it is sitting in a trust fund or it is sitting in a corporation or some other structure, and good luck in enforcing against that.”
Tabitha Speer and Layne Morris filed a court application in Toronto in a bid to enforce a $134-million (U.S.) wrongful death judgment against Mr. Khadr that a Utah civil court handed down in 2015. The court ruled that Mr. Khadr threw a grenade that killed Sergeant Christopher Speer, a Delta Force medic, and injured Mr. Morris during a 2002 battle in Afghanistan between U.S. forces and al-Qaeda militants.
The notice of application filed on June 8 in Ontario Superior Court referenced an emergency injunction “if requested” to block any payment of compensation to Mr. Khadr. No court date was requested for an injunction and Mr. Khadr’s lawyers and the federal government were not served with notice of the legal challenge.
Failure to serve the government and Mr. Khadr’s lawyers cleared the way for Ottawa to make the payment to Mr. Khadr, according to a federal insider.
A legal attempt to force the government to take the compensation back from Mr. Khadr would likely be difficult….
Mr. Khadr’s lawyers had filed a $20-million (Canadian) lawsuit against the federal government. Two federal insiders say Ottawa had no choice but to settle with Mr. Khadr because a court case could have cost taxpayers much more than $10.5-million.
Senior federal officials held a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday afternoon to develop a media strategy for the announcement that will include a written apology to Mr. Khadr.
Officials acknowledged that the Liberal government is concerned about the strong public backlash to the payout on social media, led in part by federal Conservative MPs….

Canada: Five officers of the CSIS spy service launch $35 million lawsuit against it for “Islamophobia”

That’s it? They want $35 million for that? They should be ashamed of themselves for revealing before the world how weak and pusillanimous they are. Five intelligence officers and analysts with Canada’s spy service have launched a $35-million lawsuit against their employer, claiming the Canadian Security Intelligence Service is a toxic workplace with managers who openly espouse Islamophobic, racist and homophobic views and discriminate against Muslim, Black and gay employees.
The allegations contained in a 54-page statement of claim — filed in Federal Court and obtained by the Toronto Star — provide detailed accusations from inside one of the country’s most secretive organizations.
One of the complainants, a Toronto intelligence officer with more than a decade of service and identified in the claim by the pseudonym “Alex,” is gay and has a Muslim partner.

Canada: Not just Omar Khadr, but three other Muslims received massive payments and government apologies

There is a terrifying pattern in Canada now. In addition to rewarding jihadist Omar Khadr $10,500,000, leaving Canadians stunned, this message ended up in my inbox from a concerned Canadian citizen: “I can’t believe this was from March and no one remembers ever hearing about it. This would have caused quite the uproar, but somehow we missed it”: “Federal government reaches settlement with 3 Canadian men tortured in Syria and Egypt.”
Well, here is an excerpt from that article, which many Canadians may have missed:

After months of on and off negotiations, the federal government has reached a settlement with three Canadian men as compensation for the role Canadian officials played in their torture in Syria and Egypt.
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale and Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland issued a statement Friday saying that with the settlement and an apology from government, the civil case involving Abdullah Almalki, Ahmad Abou-Elmaati and Muayyed Nureddin was now closed….
“On behalf of the government of Canada, we wish to apologize to Mr. Almalki, Mr. Abou-Elmaati and Mr. Nureddin, and their families, for any role Canadian officials may have played in relation to their detention and mistreatment abroad and any resulting harm,” the statement said.
“Our clients are gratified to have received an apology from the highest level of the Canadian government,” Phil Tunley, a lawyer representing the three men, told CBC News in an emailed statement. “They and their families are pleased that their long legal ordeal is over.”…
Ten years ago, they each filed $100-million lawsuits against the government but temporarily halted their legal proceedings to allow former Supreme Court justice Frank Iacobucci to conduct an internal inquiry. In his 2008 report, Iacobucci concluded that Canadian officials were indirectly responsible for their torture.

In case you read this through too quickly: they each filed lawsuits demanding $100,000,000, and they were actually paid an unknown sum of taxpayer dollars without taxpayers actually knowing what was going on. To read the full article, click HERE.
Canada still has not yet recovered from the grand payout of $10,500,000 to jihad killer Omar Khadr (accompanied by a government apology), and the fact that the well-being of Khadr’s American victims of jihad terror were completely disregarded also has Americans justifiably incensed:

“This story is repulsive,” said a Fox News host. To which former pizza entrepreneur and presidential candidate Herman Cain replied: “It is a pathetic interpretation of the law. Canada basically rewarded a murderer.”

Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Omar Alghabra, who once “led an organization that opposed the designation of Hamas as a terrorist organization” and “supported sharia law for Ontario,” attended the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) 44th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers to learn how to advance “core values, including human rights, freedom, democratic governance and the rule of law” in Canada. So now the OIC, which is comprised of many human rights-violating nations that adhere to sharia norms, is teaching Canada. Canada is in deep trouble.
On a personal note, I am now being called up and taken aside by “certain folk” associated with the Canadian government with regard to my commitment to informing the public about the truth of what is going on. Human rights, democratic freedoms and equality of rights for all remain core concepts of all free nations, and every Canadian should enjoy these rights and freedoms. Those serving in the public sector should particularly honor these values as a matter of course. It is alarming to witness recent developments in Canada, from “anti-Islamophobia” motion M-103 to the reckless paying-out of taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars to jihad terrorists, with little to no accountability to Canadian citizens. The Canadian Press article below discusses the ongoing uproar on both sides of the border over the payout to Omar Khadr. Now, with Abdullah Almalki, Ahmad Abou-Elmaati and Muayyed Nureddin in the mix, Canadians should be demanding to know just how much was paid out to these men, and all the specifics of this shady case.

WASHINGTON — The federal payout to Omar Khadr was a big story in some conservative U.S. media outlets Monday, after nearly two weeks in which it had garnered barely a whisper south of the border.
It was the subject of a condemnatory national newspaper column; the top story on the Fox News website; fodder for cable-news chatter on Fox; and a huge surge in interest by Americans online.
“This story is repulsive,” said a Fox News host. To which former pizza entrepreneur and presidential candidate Herman Cain replied: “It is a pathetic interpretation of the law. Canada basically rewarded a murderer.”
The burst of attention started with a Wall Street Journal piece by a Canadian opposition MP.
Conservative Peter Kent published a scorching op-ed titled, “A Terrorist’s Big Payday, Courtesy of Trudeau,” that helped the story gain traction elsewhere.
The item began with a description of Khadr killing an American army medic, Christopher Speer, when he was 15 years old and fighting alongside al-Qaida in Afghanistan. It explained how Khadr won a court fight in Canada over how he was treated by Canadian intelligence officials while detained at Guantanamo Bay, was repatriated to Canada, released on bail and sued the Canadian government for $20 million for violating his rights.
The Ontario MP criticized the Trudeau government for settling with Khadr, while the victim’s family got nothing.
By Monday afternoon the issue was the No. 1 story on the Fox News website.
The Fox News item quotes Kent’s op-ed under the headline: “Gitmo Lottery: Canada makes millionaire out of terrorist who killed U.S. soldier.”
Google searches for Khadr’s name were up more than 700% Monday in the United States from the previous day, according to Google Trends.
The Fox News panel featuring Herman Cain didn’t delve too deeply into the fine points of the legal case. But one panellist raised the possibility that there was more to the story: “This is obviously a disgusting story,” she said. “But what do you do? Is there any other option under the law?”
Last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said the Khadr issue had not come up in any meetings with U.S. state governors during a conference in Rhode Island.
But after Kent’s newspaper critique, Trudeau aide Gerald Butts tweeted: “A long (Conservative Party of Canada) tradition of airing Canadian disputes in the Wall Street Journal. It’s where Stephen Harper advocated for joining the Iraq War.”…..

Jul252017CANADIAN blogger, seeking to expose hate speech by Muslims praying in a public school, is arrested for a hate crime

Police in the Toronto suburb of Peel are charging Kevin Johnstone, who was outraged over Muslim students being granted special Friday prayer time during school hours, with “wilful promotion of hatred against an identifiable group.”


Daily Caller CBC News reports that Kevin Johnston made news a few months ago when he offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who could provide video of Muslim students “spewing hate speech during Friday prayers.” Police say Johnston was arrested for “numerous incidents” and won’t say if the YouTube video is one of those but that the charge “concerns over information published on various social media sites.”

The Peel region has been the focus of numerous school board protests because Muslim students are allowed to conduct Friday prayer services in Arabic and many parents are concerned that these events are potential focal points for radicalization.

Peel police Sgt. Josh Colley told CBC Toronto that Johnston was arrested after a five-month investigation that apparently focused on “messaging” that the police considered hateful.



“It’s not a private message that he was conveying, it was a public message … Anyone could hear, understand the messaging, so that’s where the communicating hateful messages comes into play,” Colley said. Even though the “the group that was targeted was the Muslim community,” Colley said that “affects us all.”

The Ontario government has already branded the opponents of the Muslim school prayers as racists and Islamophobes.

The school prayers have become an issue because local imams are invited to pray and speak to the students in Arabic, and the school board cannot provide assurances that the students are not being subjected to radical Islamic indoctrination.

Olympic Stadium In Montreal Turned Into Welcome Center For Refugees From U.S.

Faced with a flood of asylum seekers traveling from the United States into Quebec, Canada, local authorities have repurposed Montreal's Olympic Stadium and turned it into a refugee welcome center.
A spokesperson for PRAIDA, the local government agency that helps refugees, tells the CBC more than 1,000 asylum seekers crossed the border into Quebec last month. "In comparison, PRAIDA helped 180 people in July 2016," the CBC writes.
The vast majority of the asylum seekers are Haitians who initially fled the devastating earthquake in 2010, and whose future status in the U.S. is unclear under the Trump administration.

The surge of refugees overwhelmed the YMCA facilities that are normally used to temporarily house new arrivals.
So the agency turned to the Olympic Stadium — specifically, to the area by the concession stands, the CBC says.
The first refugees to stay at the stadium were bused in on Wednesday, The Associated Press reports.
"Volunteers from the Quebec Red Cross helped set up the cavernous, concrete stadium for a temporary stay with cots and food in the rotunda," the wire service writes. "The stadium was the main venue of the 1976 Olympics. It has not had a main tenant since the Montreal Expos left in 2004."
The stadium will be hosting up to 450 people for several months, but cannot provide shelter permanently, given the event schedule, the AP says.
The Guardian reports on the transformation:

"It took just 24 hours for the stadium – built in the 1970s as a venue for the city's 1976 Olympics – to be converted into a welcome centre where the asylum seekers will be sheltered and receive help in finding housing and completing paperwork related to their asylum claims.
"So far, 150 cots – arranged neatly into rows among the concrete walls of a windowless area ... of the stadium – have been set up, along with access to showers and a cooking area."

The Haitians who make up the majority of the new arrivals are in a precarious legal situation in the U.S. Tens of thousands of people fleeing the disastrous earthquake were given temporary protected status in the U.S. under the Obama administration; that's not the same as asylum or refugee status, but it acknowledges a person can't return to their home country safely.

Homeland Security Extends Protections For Thousands Of Haitians In U.S.


The Trump administration extended that status for just six months — and urged Haitian refugees to "prepare for and arrange their departure from the United States." The administration cited "Haiti's success in recovering from the earthquake," although Haiti continues to struggle with a number of crises, including an ongoing cholera epidemic, a nightmarish sewage problem and a catastrophic hurricane.
That helps explain why a sudden surge of refugees are leaving the U.S. As to why they're entering Quebec, the CBC cites the large Haitian community in Montreal.
"Obviously, there is a stronger attraction to coming to Quebec for Haitians than in other provinces," PRAIDA spokeswoman Francine Dupuis told the CBC. "They have the help of their community to get settled."
But it's not clear if the Haitian refugees arriving in Canada will be permitted to stay, the CBC reports. The challenge is fundamentally the same as in America: A government evaluation of just how bad life is in Haiti.
"Asylum seekers originally from Haiti who have crossed the Canada-U.S. border could be deported back to Haiti if their application is refused because Canadian authorities deem Haiti as a sufficiently safe country," the CBC writes

No, Justin Trudeau Is Not The Leader Of The Free World

The Canadian embassy in Washington has a fun secret that is often overlooked by those walking past. Just a few feet from Pennsylvania Avenue sits an echo chamber inside one of the embassy’s exterior rotundas. Step into it and you’ll hear exactly what you’re saying from all around.
If the embassy hadn’t been built in 1989, it would be a perfect metaphor for those in the United States who continue to heap false praise upon Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Just last week, he graced the cover of Rolling Stone magazine with the subheader, “Is he the free world’s best hope?”
The answer is simple: absolutely not.
The drawbacks of Trudeau’s rise to power are many, but you wouldn’t know it from the coverage and clickbait online. For a man who many view as an endearing foil to Trump, with moves like a more open Syrian refugee policy and the much-praised gender parity of his cabinet, some of his other actions raise questions about his judgement. Aside from the nice hair, light-hearted pictures with pandas, and stairway party tricks, Justin Trudeau is a reckless apologist; not the new “leader of the free world.”
Just this month, Prime Minister Trudeau awarded $8 million to a terrorist who was found guilty of five war crimes and spent time in detention in Guantanamo Bay. The man, Omar Khadr, had pleaded guilty to killing Sgt. First Class Christopher Speer, a U.S. Army medic who died in 2002. Khadr, a Canadian citizen who had trained with al Qaeda in Afghanistan, was returned to Canada in 2012 to finish the remainder of his sentence. The Canadian Supreme Court eventually ruled that his treatment in Gitmo had violated his rights because he was a minor and allowed him to pursue damages in Canadian civil court.
Instead of allowing Speer’s family – American citizens – to see their day in court and pursue damages from Khadr, Trudeau rushed to give Omar Khadr his money and a formal written apology from the Canadian government. No court order had forced Trudeau’s hand; he did so willingly.
The prime minister’s capitulation to a convicted terrorist, who was a “child” at the time of his crimes, therefore left no further course of action for Speer’s family. In his widow’s words, “Everyone wants to say he’s the child; he’s the victim. I don’t see that. My children are the victims.”
The feckless leadership of Justin Trudeau doesn’t stop at offering embarrassing written apologies to those who kill American soldiers. Like Trump, he has also praised ruthless dictators. Following Cuban dictator Fidel Castro’s death, his office released a statement calling Castro “a remarkable leader.” He went on to reminisce about how he had met Castro as a child and praised him as a “legendary revolutionary and orator.” While Canada’s relations with Cuba are no doubt different from those of the United States, Trudeau was criticized domestically and abroad for being completely tone deaf. Simply put, if he were the leader many make him out to be, he wouldn’t praise a man who brutally suppressed dissent, led executions of his political opposition, and forced his own citizens into labor camps for religious minorities and gay men.

Canadian Federal Immigration Minister Says Recent Rise In Asylum Seekers Is Not Yet A ‘Mass Arrival’

Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussen was warned in March that the flow of migrants entering Canada illegally risked turning into a larger problem — months before this week’s surge of border crossings began, documents obtained by CBC News show.
The briefing prepared for Hussen by his top bureaucrat in March noted the trends in illegal crossings were continuing “despite strong collaboration among Canadian agencies and with United States counterparts” and that a “major humanitarian or security event could create an urgent need to revisit existing policies.”
The memorandum prepared by deputy minister Marta Morgan came as Hussen prepared for a March 10 face-to-face meeting with then U.S. secretary of homeland security John F. Kelly in Ottawa. Kelly has since been named White House Chief of Staff by President Donald Trump.
The documents were obtained by CBC News under the Access to Information Act.
But in an interview with CBC Radio’s The House, Hussen said the flow of migrants crossing illegally into Canada has not reached a crisis level that would demand significant policy change.
“What we are dealing with is definitely a very high, steady increase in numbers, and it is obviously taxing our agencies and our borders, but we are able to redeploy resources and personnel as needed and are able to deal with the situation as it unfolds,” Hussen told David Cochrane, guest host of The House.
In the month of January, the RCMP intercepted 245 asylum claimants illegally crossing into Canada from the United States near Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle, Que. This week, the number had grown to hundreds of migrants a day, a flow that is anticipated to increase.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau echoed Hussen’s reassurances during a scrum with reporters at an event near Ottawa on Friday, saying Canada has the resources and the capacity to deal with the sudden rise in asylum seekers.
Trudeau said Canada remains an open and compassionate country when it comes to refugees, and that staying that way requires making sure Canadians know that the system is working properly.

Canadian Military Deploys Along U.S. Border With New York To Stop Asylum Seekers…

Canada has sent about 100 soldiers to a remote spot on the Quebec-New York border where asylum seekers are crossing illegally.
The Canadian military said in a statement Wednesday that the soldiers will help the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canada Border Services Agency at the site.
They are preparing a place for tents that can hold almost 500 people. They will also install lighting and heating equipment.
The military says the soldiers won’t play a role in security and won’t be helping with law enforcement.
The military says that once the site is completed, only a few will soldiers will stay behind. The rest will go back to their home base.
