Politicians understand that in order to get elected they need to create the illusion that they are addressing their constituents' concerns. This is not unlike the parents who are awakened in the night by their young child who, startled by a nightmare in the middle of the night, starts crying and screaming.
The drowsy parents want desperately to be able to go back to sleep, but know that must calm their upset child. The dutiful parents stumble into their child's room, administer a back-rub to the crying child, speaking soothingly, telling the child whatever they think they need to say to calm him/her and perhaps even serving up a glass of warm milk, hoping that the now-placated child will go back to sleep.
Years ago during a conversation with a journalist about immigration and crime, I told him that the Bush administration's strategy was to create the illusion of aggressively seeking to arrest criminal aliens to placate concerned Americans. I told him that the President would periodically conduct news conferences at which he would highlight some law enforcement operation conducted by the Border Patrol or by ICE agents that had been given tough-sounding names such as “Operation Gatekeeper” and “Operation Return to Sender.”
In reality, I told him, all such operations should all be given the same name, “Operation Back-Rub,” because they were devised simply to placate concerned Americans. These and similar operations only involved the apprehension of a relative handful of criminal aliens, while our nation had been inundated with hundreds of thousands of criminal aliens plying their “trades” across the United States.
Of course, the failures of the Bush administration to effectively secure our borders and enforce our immigration laws from within the interior of the United States pale in comparison to the Obama administration's policies.
Tons of money has been squandered on technology on the border that never worked but had impressive sounding names such as SBINet (Secure Border Initiative Network) also known as the “Virtual Fence.”
The goal was to create the illusion that the administration was meeting the needs of many angry Americans.
Our nation's leaders are conflicted about the immigration crisis. Unless they are totally delusional, they know full well that foreign terrorists need to enter the United States in order to carry out attacks inside the United States.
The rational solution would be to secure our nation's borders and tighten up the visa adjudication process. The inspections/admission process at ports of entry also needs to be improved considering that an estimated 40% of all illegal aliens were actually admitted via the inspections process conducted at ports of entry and subsequently violated their terms of admission.
Finally, effective enforcement of our immigration laws from within the interior of the United States could identify and arrest aliens, who, in violation of the law, have embedded themselves in the United States.
These issues were, in fact, the focus of much of the attention of the 9/11 Commission Report and the 9/11 Commission Staff Report on Terrorist Travel.
Therefore the Visa Waiver Program should have been terminated after the terror attacks of 9/11 yet it has continually been expanded.
It is clear that the overarching goal of a succession of administrations and many members of Congress, irrespective of political party affiliation, is to keep our borders open and take no meaningful action to stop that flow of aliens into the United States.
On November 30, 2015, in response to the ever-increasing threats to the United States posed by terrorists, the White House posted a document on its official website, “FACT SHEET: Visa Waiver Program Enhancements.”
Members of the United States Senate such as Senator Dianne Feinstein, the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, have proposed changes to the Visa Waiver Program that are essentially worthless and constitute yet another example of “Operation Back-Rub.”
The key proposal is to require aliens who are citizens of countries that participate in the Visa Waiver Program, but who have traveled to either Syria or Iraq in the past five years, to get visas before they apply to enter the United States. However, there will be no reliable way to know if such aliens traveled to those countries.
On December 1, 2015, Mr. Obama, at his news conference in Paris where he and other world leaders met to discuss climate change, insisted that Turkey secure its border with Syria to stop the flow of weapons and fighters. (Would that Obama take his own advice about the need to secure borders.)
It is obvious that it would be a simple matter for terrorists to cross that border without having their passports stamped.
Furthermore, has not ISIS exhorted their adherents to “kill where they are” if they cannot make the trip to Syria?



The obvious question is why the Visa Waiver Program is considered so sacrosanct that even though it defies the advice and findings of the 9/11 Commission no one has the moral fortitude to call for simply terminating this dangerous program.
The answer can be found in the incestuous relationship between the Chamber of Commerce and its subsidiary, the Corporation for Travel Promotion, now doing business as Brand USA.
The Chamber of Commerce has arguably been the strongest supporter of the Visa Waiver Program, which currently enables aliens from 38 countries to enter the United States without first obtaining a visa.
The U.S. State Department provides a thorough explanation of the Visa Waiver Program on its website.
Incredibly, the official State Department website also provides a link,“Discover America,” on that website which relates to the website of The Corporation for Travel Promotion, which is affiliated with the travel industries that are a part of the “Discover America Partnership.”
This organization refers to itself as a “public-private marketing entity” and provides this description:
The Corporation for Travel Promotion, now doing business as Brand USA, was created in 2010 to encourage travelers from all over the world to visit the United States of America. The public-private marketing entity works in close partnership with the travel industry to maximise the economic and social benefits of travel in communities around the country. Through its website, Discover America, Brand USA will inspire travelers to explore America's boundless possibilities.
How reassuring is it to know that executives of the travel, hospitality and tourism industries have been making national security decisions for America and continue to dictate national security policies?
Might there be a conflict of interest in having the official State Department website post a link to this organization?
There are six ways in which an effectively administered visa process can help combat terrorists and defeat their plots. However, under the Visa Waiver Program, these benefits are lost:
1. The visa adjudications process screens airline passengers flying to the United States, enhancing aviation safety.
2. The inspections process conducted at ports of entry by CBP is supposed to be conducted in one minute or less. The visa requirement requires aliens to be vetted overseas helping to provide more integrity to this process.
3. The application for a nonimmigrant visa contains roughly 40 questions and biometric identifiers that could provide invaluable information to law enforcement officials should that alien become the target of a criminal or terrorist investigation. The information could provide intelligence as well as investigative leads.
4. False statements on the application for a visa constitute "visa fraud." The maximum penalty for visa fraud starts out at 10 years in jail and go to a maximum of 25 years in prison when the visa fraud is done to support terrorism. It is important to note that while it may be difficult to prove that an individual is a terrorist, it is usually relatively simple to prove that the alien has committed visa fraud. Indeed, terror suspects are often charged with visa fraud.
5. The charge of visa fraud can enable law enforcement authorities to take a “bad guy” off the street without alerting his criminal or terrorist cohorts that they are under investigation.
6. When an application for a visa is denied, the application and the biometric identifiers remain available for law enforcement and intelligence personnel to review to seek to glean intelligence from that application.
There is a long list of individuals, industries and organizations that make huge campaign contributions that want lots of cheap labor and an endless supply of tourists and foreign students to have easy access to our nation literally at any cost.
Often that cost is the loss of innocent lives.
I sometimes wonder if the U.S. Chamber of Commerce might be seeking to drum up business for funeral homes.

The New York Times, meanwhile, has now chosen to side with ISIS by calling for the complete disarmament of law-abiding American citizens while refusing to call for disarming ISIS terrorists. Between the New York Times, the Washington Post and President Obama, America is now an occupied nation being run by communists and Islamists who continue their insidious push for open borders, race-baited culture wars, transplanting ISIS terrorists into U.S. cities across the nation and destroying the national economy via Obamacare and other punitive mandates that crush small businesses and destroy jobs.

To ultimate goal is the complete destruction of America, replacing democracy and Christianity with communism and radical Islam, where every citizen is a disarmed, propagandized, obedient slave to the state. This is the clear objective of Obama, the mainstream media and the radical left.

School Principal Bans Santa, Thanksgiving And The Pledge Of Allegiance
The whole point is to destroy unifying American traditions, so that children coming up have no feelings of ‘allegiance’ and no knowledge of what it actually means to be an American, apart from the supposedly evil things we’ve done.

Santa Claus is banned. The Pledge of Allegiance is no longer recited. “Harvest festival” has replaced Thanksgiving, and “winter celebrations” substitute for Christmas parties.
New principal Eujin Jaela Kim has given PS 169 in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, a politically correct scrub-down, to the dismay of teachers and parents.
“We definitely can’t say Christmas, nothing with Christmas on it, nothing with Santa,” PTA president Mimi Ferrer said administrators told her. “No angels. We can’t even have a star because it can represent a religious system, like the Star of David.”
Kim, 33, did not return a call or e-mail seeking comment.
A memo last month from assistant principal Jose Chaparro suggested a “harvest festival instead of Thanksgiving or a winter celebration instead of a Christmas party.” He urged staff to “be sensitive of the diversity of our families. Not all children celebrate the same holidays.”
Ninety-five percent of the 1,600 kids at PS 169 are Asian or Hispanic.
In a recent directive to all schools, the city Department of Education said it permits holiday symbols including Christmas trees, kinaras (candleholders for Kwanzaa), dreidels, Hanukkah menorahs and the Islamic star-and- crescent. Displays that “depict images of deities, religious figures or religious texts” are prohibited.
In a memo to staff this month, PS 169 business manager Johanna Bjorken added: “In case you are wondering about grey areas: Santa Claus is considered an ‘other religious figure.’ ”
But a DOE spokesman told The Post that Santa is allowed as a secular figure.
Santa was a part of the holidays at PS 169 for years. Joseph Iorio, a longtime assistant principal and the acting principal who preceded Kim, recalled state Assemblyman Felix Ortiz visiting the school dressed as Santa “many times.”

House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Democratic leaders have hidden a bipartisan plan in the 2016 appropriations bill that would outsource blue-collar jobs held by almost 200,000 Americans to lower-wage temporary foreign workers.


The covert plan could also cut the salaries of many additional American workers, and force taxpayers to pay additional billions in welfare costs, so companies can boost their profits.
Nonpartisan public opposition to cheap imported-labor defeated the massively-lobbied 2013 immigration bill, prompted primary voters to fire the GOP’s majority leader in June 2014, helped to fire five Democratic Senators in November 2014, and has helped outsider Donald Trump dominate the GOP’s 2016 race. Meanwhile, the presidential candidates who are backing low-productivity, cheap-labor policies — chiefly Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL)— have fallen to very low levels, despite huge support from business donors and media personalities.
The H-2B program brings in cheap workers, mostly from Latin America, to work for companies in seasonal sectors such as landscaping, forestry, seafood, hotels, resorts and country clubs and hotels. Those workers displace Americans youths and lower-skilled Americans, including many Hispanic-Americans and African-Americans supposedly championed by Democrats. The program is backed by a large business coalition. …..
…. Normally, the program is capped at 66,000 workers per year. But the hidden language exempts the prior three years of H-2B workers from the cap, allowing the companies to bring in four years of workers each year. That will quadruple the size of the current program up to 264,000 workers in 2016. ….. …..In Oct. 2015, only 62.4 percent of adult Americans had jobs. That’s down from 66.9 percent in April 2001, and level with the June 1977 level.

Yeh, we just don’t have enough Americans willing to take jobs, or something.
Essentially, this program provides cheap slave labor while keeping wages suppressed. This props up businesses which would otherwise fail. As we all know, in order to have success, one must also allow failure. To do otherwise defines everything else to the lowest common denominator. This is why our productivity increases hasn’t kept pace with the traditional rate over the last several decades.

Notice the near flat-line in recent years. This is a direct result of a lack of innovation in the workplace. Efficiency declines as the availability of cheap and unskilled laborers become more plentiful. Why would a business innovate and increase productivity per worker when they can just import cheap labor? Sure, it harms the rest of the US and the American citizenry, but, what can go wrong with a federally mandated bump to the bottom line of an individual company which would otherwise fail?

Constitutional Law Professor: GAO Report ‘A Black Eye for the EPA’
A Government Accountability Office report stating that the EPA broke the law is “a black eye” for the agency, says an expert in Constitutional Law. EPA is in hot water over the promulgation of a controversial water rule that a federal appeals court placed a stay on in October.

“The impact of this report is more political than legal. It’s a black eye for the EPA, but doesn’t really affect the legal merits of the challenge,” Jonathan Adler, a professor of Constitutional Law at Case Western University and a regular contributor to the Washington Post’s Volokh Conspiracy, tells Breitbart News.
The merits of the legal challenges to the EPA’s water rule, filed by 22 states in two separate federal lawsuits, appear to be quite strong.
“While we know from experience that the EPA goes to great lengths to advance illegal and unprecedented regulations, I take comfort that we currently have a national stay on the waters rule and are well positioned to drive a stake through the heart of this unlawful policy,” Patrick Morrisey, Attorney General for West Virginia, one the states that has sued the EPA over the water rule, tells Breitbart News.
According to the EPA’s website, “The Clean Water Rule: Definition of “Waters of the United States” published in the Federal Register on June 29, 2015. The rule became effective on August 28, 2015.” A federal district court judge in North Dakota issued a stay almost immediately. The ruling initially applied only to 13 states involved in one lawsuit against the regulations. In October a federal appeals court affirmed the stay and extended it to all 50 states in the country.
Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK), a steadfast opponent of the water rule who had asked the GAO to issue a legal opinion on its validity, offers a similar view.
“G.A.O.’s finding confirms what I have long suspected: that E.P.A. will go to extreme lengths and even violate the law to promote its activist environmental agenda,” Inhofe said in a statement responding to the GAO report. “E.P.A.’s illegal attempts to manufacture public support for its Waters of the United States rule and sway congressional opinion.” ……
…. “At issue here,” the GAO explained, “is whether EPA violated publicity or propaganda and anti-lobbying provisions concerning the use of its FY 2014 and FY 2015 appropriations.” “The use of appropriated funds associated with implementing EPA’s Thunderclap campaign and establishing hyperlinks to the NRDC and Surfrider Foundation webpages,” GAO concluded, “violated prohibitions against publicity or propaganda and grassroots lobbying contained in appropriations acts for FYs 2014 and 2015.” ….

Feds don’t know whereabouts of 9,500 with visas revoked over terrorism

The Obama administration cannot be sure of the whereabouts of thousands of foreigners in the U.S. who had their visas revoked over terror concerns and other reasons, a State Department official acknowledged Thursday.
The admission, made at a House oversight hearing examining immigrant vetting in the wake of major terror attacks, drew a sharp rebuke from the committee chairman.
“You don’t have a clue do you?” Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, told Michele Thoren Bond, assistant secretary for the Bureau of Consular Affairs.
Bond initially said the U.S. has revoked more than 122,000 visas since 2001, including 9,500 because of the threat of terrorism.
But Chaffetz quickly pried at that stat, pressing the witness about the present location of those individuals.
“I don’t know,” she said.
The startling admission came as members of the committee pressed administration officials on what safeguards are in place to reduce the risk from would-be extremists….
