The Rev. Jesse Jackson said defeated 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton really “won the election” against Republican President Donald Trump last November — and that “it was stolen.”
Jackson made his remarks Thursday during a labor breakfast at the annual conference of his organization, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, in Chicago.
Here are Jackson’s words in context before introducing Tom Perez, head of the Democratic National Committee:
“To have a head of our party who is sensitive to the plight of working people is the order of this day,” Jackson said. “Don’t forget — when you lose, you tend to amplify ‘woulda, coulda, shoulda.’ When you win, you cover up your sins. Don’t let anybody fool you, we worked last year, we won the election. It was stolen.”

Pelosi: Restricting Defense Budget Funds From Being Used For Gender Transition Treatment “Undermines National Security”…

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi slammed Republicans for trying to “rip away” health care for transgender service members.
In a statement Thursday, Pelosi said the “disgusting” attempt to restrict funds from being used to provide gender transition treatments is “unprecedented, unacceptable and undermines our national security.”
“Republicans should be ashamed: instead of protecting the men and women who risk their lives to defend our freedoms, they are fighting to rip away the health care of thousands of brave service members,” Pelosi said in a statement. “This cowardly Republican amendment targeting transgender men and women in uniform effectively bans these patriotic Americans from serving their country.”
Missouri GOP Rep. Vicky Hartzler filed an amendment to the House National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which successfully moved through the Rules Committee.

Rainbow Crosswalks In Atlanta Cost Taxpayers $196,000

Crosswalks in Midtown Atlanta that were painted rainbow colors to support gay pride have cost taxpayers $196,000.
Indeed, an Atlanta intersection now features a four-way rainbow painted on.
The cost of the crosswalks amounted to “$196,000 to install and should last for about 10 years before repairs,” 11Alive reports.
Some Atlantans interviews by 11Alive about the crosswalk expressed disapproval. One said, “I say that money should be spent in schools. This is stuff that could be spent on educating young people instead of trying to make the city look pretty.”

‘So, I Can’t Answer?’ MSNBC’s Joy Reid Forces CIA Guest To Shut Up As She Answers Her Own Questions

He didn’t get the memo telling him to just pretend to be a guest.
A former CIA analyst, set host Joy Reid off when he appeared on MSNBC’s “AM Joy” armed with logic, information and props even.
At issue was — what else? — the Russian meeting Donald Trump Jr. took a year ago in Trump Tower that liberal media outlets have been focused on for more than a week — to the exclusion of almost everything else — despite that no one else cares.
Host Joy Reid spent the first minute of the segment recapping the events before asking, “Is that rookie mistakes or is that a pattern?”
Former CIA analyst Fred Fleitz didn’t see it as a pattern, and said it wasn’t credible that the Russian government would trust sensitive information being handled by British music publicist Rob Goldstone — who contacted Trump Jr. to set up the meeting.
“The question is whether this person would have been entrusted by the Russian government — here he is posing as Miss Universe — whether the Russian government would trust someone like this with sensitive information about efforts to undermine the US election,” Fleitz said as he displayed additional photos of Goldstone in silly costumes. He added that the Kremlin would never have “entrusted him with a sensitive intelligence operation.”
He managed to get that out despite repeated interruptions by the host.[…]
That’s an adorable picture,” she said. “It doesn’t change the fact that Paul Manafort … the son of the president of the United States and his brother-in-law … took a meeting.”
“This is a rigged interview,” he finally said. “Let me answer the question.”
When Reid ignored Fleitz, he concluded, “Oh, I see, so I can’t answer anymore?”

Left Eats Left: Democrats Bicycle Tax Leaves Bike-Crazy Oregon Riders Deflated

In Oregon, a state known for its avid bicycling culture, the state legislature’s approval of the first bike tax in the nation has fallen flat with riders.
Democratic Gov. Kate Brown is expected to sign the sweeping $5.3 billion transportation package, which includes a $15 excise tax on the sale of bicycles costing more than $200 with a wheel diameter of at least 26 inches.
Even though the funding has been earmarked for improvements that will benefit cyclists, the tax has managed to irk both anti-tax Republicans and environmentally conscious bikers alike.
BikePortland publisher Jonathan Maus called it “an unprecedented step in the wrong direction.”
“We are taxing the healthiest, most inexpensive, most environmentally friendly, most efficient, and most economically sustainable form of transportation ever devised by the human species,” Mr. Maus said.

Seattle GOP Calls For ‘Civil Disobedience’ Against New Income Tax On High Earners, Encourages People To Refuse To Pay

Republicans in Washington state are calling for “civil disobedience” in response to a recently passed income tax measure targeting high-income earners living in the city of Seattle.
The Washington State Republican Party is encouraging Seattle residents to refuse paying the newly passed income tax on the grounds that the tax is illegal, Fox News reported Tuesday.
The tax measure would require residents to pay a 2.25 percent tax if they are a single filer and make more than $250,000 annually, or if they file jointly and make more than $500,000.
The tax was passed by the Seattle City Council but critics and analysts say it was passed in defiance of state law.
“This law is unconstitutional, illegal, and against the voter’s will expressed nine times at the ballot box and it deserves nothing less than civil disobedience – that is, refusal to comply, file or pay,” the Washington State Republican Party said in a written statement.
