    President Donald Trump on Thursday scrapped a planned trip to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, later this month, citing border security only hours after attributing a possible cancellation to the government shutdown.
    “Because of the Democrats intransigence on Border Security and the great importance of Safety for our Nation, I am respectfully cancelling my very important trip,” Trump wrote on Twitter Thursday while on his way to visit the Texas side of the border. “My warmest regards and apologies to the @WEF!”

    As one of the senior officials working without a paycheck, a few words of advice for the president’s next move at shuttered government agencies: lock the doors, sell the furniture, and cut them down.
    Federal employees are starting to feel the strain of the shutdown. I am one of them. But for the sake of our nation, I hope it lasts a very long time, till the government is changed and can never return to its previous form.
    The lapse in appropriations is more than a battle over a wall. It is an opportunity to strip wasteful government agencies for good.
    On an average day, roughly 15 percent of the employees around me are exceptional patriots serving their country. I wish I could give competitive salaries to them and no one else. But 80 percent feel no pressure to produce results. If they don’t feel like doing what they are told, they don’t.
    Why would they? We can’t fire them. They avoid attention, plan their weekend, schedule vacation, their second job, their next position — some do this in the same position for more than a decade.

    A Belarusian model, who said she had proof that President Trump’s campaign colluded with the Kremlin during the 2016 presidential election, has now backtracked and says she made up the claims.
    Anastasia Vashukevich, who spent months in a Thai jail last year for organizing sex training seminars, grabbed headlines after saying she has evidence that Russia worked with Trump’s campaign.
    She asked the U.S. government to secure her freedom from the Thai lockup and grant her political asylum in exchange for recordings in which she said Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska is heard talking about interfering in the U.S. presidential elections. She reportedly worked as an escort, with Deripaska being one of her clients.
    Following her deportation from Thailand earlier this month, she was detained in Russia on prostitution charges. She was later released after an investigator decided to free her without an “obligation to appear” for further proceedings.
    But the model now claims her story was just an effort to attract media attention and save her life while she was detained in Thailand.
    “I think it saved my life, how can I regret it? If journalists had not come at that time and that story had not come to the newspapers, maybe I would die [be dead by] now,” she told CNN.

    China’s Vice Premier pledged to President Donald Trump in the Oval Office Thursday that China will purchase five million tons of soybeans a day from the U.S.

    China has begun making these purchases on a smaller scale and will be increasing those purchases to five million tons of soybeans per day, China’s Vice Premier Liu He pledged to President Trump Thursday.
    “That’s going to make our farmers happy, that’s a lot of soybeans,” said president Trump.
    The meeting Thursday culminated on the second day of meetings between Chinese and U.S. trade officials in Washington, DC. Trump referred to the vice premier a friend of his and one of the most respected men in the world.
    Liu acknowledged his trip was to “follow through” on the agreement made between Presidents Trump and Xi. The two presidents met in person last at the G20 in Argentina, where they agreed to an intensive 90-day period of trade negotiations.
    “We haven’t talked about extending the deadline,” Trump told reporters of the deadline to come up with a deal before the U.S. increases 10 percent in tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods to 25 percent.
    Both sides stressed the absolute necessity of enforcement for any trade deal made between the two nations. The two sides have discussed protections of intellectual property and enforcement over two days of trade talks between the U.S. and Chinese trade representatives.
    President Trump said of negotiations, “We’ve made tremendous progress.” He told reporters there wasn’t a date set yet for the next meeting between himself and president Xi.

    Judge Tosses Stormy Daniels’ Lawsuit Against Trump Over Hush Money Agreement


    Trump wins again, CNN tries to spin.

    A lawsuit by adult film star Stormy Daniels against President Donald Trump over a non-disparagement agreement has been tossed out of federal court.
    US District Judge James Otero says the suit, which sought to invalidate the $130,000 agreement that kept Daniels from speaking publicly about her allegations of an affair with Trump ahead of the 2016 election, should be sent back to California Superior Court. In his ruling, Otero says the suit “lacks subject matter jurisdiction.”
    By remanding the case back to where it was first filed, Otero made it clear the case is over.
    During the course of the case, Cohen and Trump agreed with Daniels saying the agreement would not be enforced. But, Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti said his client wanted the judge to rule that what Cohen and Trump did was illegal.
