Socialist Venezuela to Shut Down Country Because Socialism Works

Venezuela is shutting down for a week as the government struggles with a deepening electricity crisis.
This is more serious than the toilet paper crisis and the currency crisis in which inflation increased so fast that the Socialist trainwreck ran out of big bills and the money to pay foreign companies to print them.
The government has rationed electricity and water supplies across the country for months and urged citizens to avoid waste as Venezuela endures a prolonged drought that has slashed output at hydroelectric dams. The ruling socialists have blamed the shortage on the El Nino weather phenomena and “sabotage” by their political foes, while critics cite a lack of maintenance and poor planning.
The critics probably hate science. Everyone knows capitalist sabotage prevents rain from falling.
This is clearly the fault of the Flying Global Warming Monster. We must start sending climate aid to the climate refugees of Venezuela who are victims of our carbon and in no way the victims of Socialism.

“We’re hoping, God willing, rains will come,” Maduro said in a national address Saturday. “Look, the saving is more than 40 percent when these measures are taken. We’re reaching a difficult place that we’re trying to manage.”
Blasphemy! Doesn't he mean Marx willing?
Venezuela has long suffered rolling blackouts that cripple public services and leave citizens in the dark for days at a time. The extended break seeks to further ease demand on Venezuela’s strained power grid and follows a forced reduction of hours at shopping malls and public institutions.
Which is okay because the malls have nothing to offer shoppers anyway. Except the chance to steal electricity.
Four people have been killed in the past few days while trying to steal electricity from Venezuela's national power company, Electric Energy Minister Luis Motta Dominguez said.

You know, the manipulation through the media and political forces to guide the masses is staggering. What I mean to say is, the devil is an extremist. Watch what will come when they finish their ushering in of the conservative boogey-men.

The Wall Street Journal draws a parallel --

Donald Trump is something new to the American political landscape. But to many in Latin America he is—stylistically, at least—a far more familiar figure: the caudillo, or authoritarian populist.

In recent weeks, growing numbers of newspapers across Latin America have tried to explain the rise of Mr. Trump to bewildered local audiences by pointing to the region’s own strongmen, a long list that includes Venezuela’s late Hugo Chávez and Ecuador’s current president, Rafael Correa.

I tried to figure out how limiting electric usage for a few days does ANYTHING to alleviate an electrical shortage. From what I am aware of, significant amounts of electricity cannot be "stored".
    What am I missing here?

They get much of their power from water powered turbines. Currently the country is experiencing a severe drought. While huge amounts of electricity cannot be stored, it is very easy to store water in the nearly empty reservoirs that supply the turbines.

    That makes sense.
Won't happen, though. The thought of "a drop in the bucket" comes to mind

Just a few years ago, the government of Venezuela came for the people's guns, telling them that they'd be safer without them. Now the country is still plagued with crime, while law-abiding citizens are disarmed—and would do anything for the Second Amendment freedom that we enjoy as Americans. The National Rifle Association fights for the protection of these liberties. The NRA is Freedom's Safest Place.

First the government made it a law that citizens were required to register their firearms for "public safety", then they banned all but ,22 rim fire rifles and shotguns-no semi-auto and no handguns. If one failed to turn in their illegal weapon the penalty was severe.

Then finally in 2012 all civilian firearms were banned.

In January 2015 the order was given to the Venezuelan Army to shoot protesters to "prevent disorder". https://panampost.com/sabrina-martin...e-immediately/
