Default Gates Foundation 'doubling down' on Common Core

Gates Foundation CEO admits foundation was not prepared for changes schools faced under Common Core

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation says it is "doubling down" on its efforts to help teachers adapt to the Common Core education standards.

"Far too many districts report that identifying or developing Common Core-aligned materials is a challenge, meaning that teachers spend their time adapting or creating curriculum, developing lessons, and searching for supplemental materials," Gates Foundation CEO Sue Desmond-Hellmann writes in an open letter. "So, we're doubling down on our efforts to make sure teachers have what they need to make the most of their unique capabilities."

Desmond-Hellmann admitted that the foundation was not prepared for all the changes schools faced under Common Core. "Unfortunately, our foundation underestimated the level of resources and support required for our public education systems to be well-equipped to implement the standards. We missed an early opportunity to sufficiently engage educators — particularly teachers — but also parents and communities so that the benefits of the standards could take flight from the beginning."

OBAMA ALIENATES MILLIONS WITH INCENDIARY PRO-KNOWLEDGE REMARKS

NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY (News Satire from The Borowitz Report)—President Obama handed the Republican Party a gift for the general election by making a series of offensive pro-knowledge remarks at Rutgers University over the weekend, a leading Republican official said on Monday.

According to Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, the President’s inflammatory comments, in which he offered full-throated praise for such controversial fields of knowledge as math and science, are sure to come back to haunt the Democrats in November.

“If President Obama was trying to alienate millions of Americans in one speech, mission accomplished,” Priebus told Fox News. “When I watched him speak, I said to myself, ‘Well, Christmas came early this year.’ ”

While many Republicans expected Obama to walk back his ill-advised praise of knowledge, facts, and evidence, the White House as of Monday morning had refused to do so.

“The President seems to be doubling down on this, which is not surprising,” Priebus said. “This is a man who never met a fact he didn’t like.”

The R.N.C. chairman said that the Party was already creating negative ads that would make extensive use of the President’s polarizing pro-knowledge rant.

“This fall, we will ask the American people, ‘Do you want four more years of knowledge, or do you want something else?’ ” Priebus said. “Because the Republican Party has something else.”

Gates needs to stay out of education. Common Core should disappear. Plus, the Department of Education is another useless entity that needs to be shut down. All power should be returned to local school districts. The government doesn't belong in the education sector.

I'm a former public school teacher, and I can tell you exactly what they've done with the "standards."

For one thing, you have to understand that the goal the last 20 years was to run off any capable, skilled teacher who could get the job done without implementing someone else's plan.

This has been done in a variety of ways, one of which was to lower standards for student behavior via planting administrators who do what they're told and refuse to discipline children. This makes for massive headaches in managing a class of students, as they all "learn" that the boundaries are wide and the punishments are few.

Additionally, they have been flooding the profession with liberal dolts who are in it for the glory, and wish to try the teaching career on like it's a sweater. As they check themselves in the proverbial mirror, and realize what a difficult task it actually is, they either wash out making a spot for a new dolt, or they continue on making a buck and failing because they were never properly trained. And when you're not properly trained, and these do-gooders aren't trained whatsoever, as they've all come in through well-funded schemes to transition people without education degrees into the system (hello salary for a psych degree!) they do a terrible job and the kids don't learn.

Common Core is the final nail in the coffin because now the profession is filled with incapable people who only know to do what they're told. They don't even know what a 3rd grader should be taught, but they're told to implement these crap standards.

What did they do to the standards? It was wicked. They took regular standards, which weren't that bad, but overly broad (again, part of the scheme from the early phase) and began to hollow them out.

So, your classic science unit would have a set of concepts and vocabulary words. What do they do with that? They indiscriminately eliminate half the vocabulary and concepts.

Then, to confuse things further, they will take this hollowed out unit (cored like an apple, if you will) and glom it together with another science unit to make it virtually, no absolutely, impossible to implement in any meaningful way.

The end result is education deformed (not reformed).

There you have it, watch out for this next generation. The Lord always waits until the sin of a people come forth in the greatest measure before He brings full judgment. And if the Israelites were a wicked and adulterous generation when they received judgment in 70AD, how much more wicked will the world be when He returns in flaming vengeance?

What do you know about Common Core? What role has Bill Gates played in the controversial program? Dr. Duke Pesta joins Stefan Molyneux to discuss the horrifying truth about modern education, the origin of these government standards and the results which have been seen by implementation across the United States. Common Core represents of the most comprehensive steps toward complete government control of childhood education.
