We have a pot hole down here that they filled 6 times that I counted in the <3 yr we've been here. Soil is all sand and water table is only 18" down so not like the freeze pot holes up north. This last time they dug a huge 4x8 area and maybe fixed it ...... I'll let you know in the winter.

They have like 25 people dedicated to looking at the same hole to confirm that it is in fact a hole.

A committee is then formed and studies are conducted on holes and the environmental impact of filling in said holes.

It is for this reason that we pay $.70 cents a gal. extra for gasoline.

And yes, PennDot makes molasses in January look like a high speed jet. They give slow and inefficient whole new meaning.

We got about 3/4" and needed more. The corn is not happy. There are two fields near the bike path, and I stopped and chatted with the farmer on Saturday: he was wandering around sampling the soil. If we get another inch of rain this week, it'll be fine. If not, the early season corn won't be as sweet.

Now Pete, are you sure that is a hole. And if it is a hole, what type of hole is it. Is it a special hole that needs to be protected or is it an evil black hole that needs to filled. So many questions surround the hole that it needs study and time and perhaps a couple of polls before deciding how to proceed. Holes are complex and better left to the "educated" to make determinations on how to deal with them.

I hope Akron has been cleaned up a bit. That was Rustbelt Purgatory. The area around it is rural and pretty, but Akron itself was not a nice area for a long time.
