Best thing Trump can say about the verdict, if questioned, is: "The jury has spoken. So be it."

The case in Las Vegas is much more cut and dried. They're facing decades in prison for holding guns on federal agents while the Bundys released lawfully impounded cattle. I anticipate guilty verdicts and long prison sentences.
They really have no defense. The idea that they were taking back cattle that were illegally impounded is nonsense. And that will come out in court as well.

So it would be "best" for who if he dodges addressing all the varied issues of government overreach that Bunkerville and the Malheur occupation exposed? "Best" for The People, or "best" for himself as a politician?

He's not a politician until he's in the WH, once he has constitutional power then he can act but he's a long way from that moment

Otay 'Panky, whatever you say. I guess I could change it from simple "politician" to "political opportunist." Better?

"The Jury has spoken" is absolutely the best thing he can say from ANY point of view. It sticks with his "law and order" ideas, in which our criminal cases are ultimately decided in OUR system by the jury, it respects the power of the jury, and it completely avoids the issue of governmental overreach until after he's elected. Just because he's not a politician does not mean he has to be stupid. Whether you think the verdict in this case was right or wrong is not the issue. The ultimate power of the people to judge the case, the law, and it's application is the issue.

    I agree completely.
Point being, the "government overreach," or corruption, or tyranny...whatever you want to call it....can be corrected if there is new blood in the White House. I would like to see Trump given the chance. In the meantime, saying "the Jury has spoken" gives anyone reading that a moment to think about the concept of jury nullification. It's a powerful tool of the people.

The legislature can pass any all the laws they want... Up to the point they are declared unconstitutional by the judicial branch or the people refuse to obey what they feel are unjust laws that honestly do not uphold freedom and liberty the core of the foundation of this nation.

It's the last measure of justice the people retain.

Oh and for the confiscation of legal cattle. The BLM attempted to sell Bundy's cattle but could not. Why? Good question, the cattle could not be sold in the state in Nevada as the cattle were considered "stolen" and could NOT BE SOLD with the state.

So they tried to go across state lines and sell the cattle in Utah... The Governor refused to allow the cattle within the borders of the state.

Then with an inability to sell the "illegal" cattle, they marched them into the desert without food or water, executed prize breeding bulls, held them for days no food nor water and ordered earth moving equipment into their hasty desert compound. Why?

The local citizens mobilized and confronted the machine gun armed federal forces (BLM), most citizens unarmed. However, armed civilians did provide defensive support of the protesters. They never fired a shot but if the citizens were attacked....

So as a wise old man once said "we shall see".
