Towards an ANTIFA of a New Type: Reportback from the Feb 13th confrontation


Some folks discouraged the antifascists in Austin from protesting black metal band Marduk on February 13th, 2017. This was due to an assortment of concerns. Thankfully, not everyone in Austin listened. While some classify the band as edgy, “WWII obsessed,” or just “problematic,” we think that sincere or not their infatuation with the specific role of Germany in WWII appeals to a specific type of fan—Holocaust deniers, white supremacist bikers, Trump fans, Milo Yiannopoulos wannabees, and other neo-Nazi trash. The fact that anyone would make an argument for Marduk based on the fact that there is more sincere Nazi black metal out there demonstrates just how widespread casual racism is in metal, leading even progressive punks, “anarchists,” and so on to offer apologies for this trash. It’s not “problematic”—it’s reactionary, it’s racist, and it is not ****ing welcome in our city.
Another group of people who failed miserably in assessing the event and confronting it was the local chapter of Black Lives Matter, whom we have written about before critically on other subjects (i.e., their members’ anti-choice activity, their collaborating with the police, and other general reactionary bull****). Here was one moment when they could perhaps have redeemed themselves. They set up an event page against the Marduk show, which got good circulation online, and they promised to show these white losers that they are not welcome in the hood. When it came down to it, at the last minute, BLM-Austin backed down, canceled their event page, and instead they went to a school board meeting! It turns out that tailing bureaucrats at a routine meeting was preferable to them. For us, BLM-Austin just further demonstrated their uselessness. Nonetheless, the show would go on and it would be confronted.

Due to the music fans in the movement who discouraged people from attending the antifascist action, the cowards in BLM, and our very late notice, our numbers were small. Our side had seen a weekend of major activity with the confrontations with police that took place in East Cesar Chavez and in Rundberg as well as around-the-clock prisoner support. Worn thin and on little sleep, we were not deterred. If Marduk loves WWII history so much, we hoped to see them greeted with a historically accurate reenactment—one where Nazis got beaten by communists!
A little fewer than twenty antifascists showed up, armed with sticks to rally outside the venue. Music fans were warned that for months neo-Nazis had been attempting to organize in this part of south East Austin where the venue was located. They were ask to not patronize the place or support the show. But due to the low standards common in the metal scene, very few were deterred. One comrade who is a highly active revolutionary organizer and a crucial part of our local movement was assaulted by a vehicle while protesting. The car hit our courageous comrade and threw them up onto the hood. This “WWII fan” in the driver seat tried then to kill our comrade by speeding away towards traffic. Our comrade rolled off the moving vehicle and was shaken but not deterred. They refused to leave the action and continued to resist and oppose fascism. While others did give chase, the fascist driver was able to escape unscathed. Antifascists will remain on the lookout for this driver and next time he will not be so lucky. We are fighters for our people and our class: you can hit us with cars, threaten us with violence, and even attack us, but we do not back down and we do not relent. Like the communists who have come before us we will fight fascists to the last person, and our comrade embodied this spirit by courageously refusing to leave the action!
Marduk clearly had become a rallying point for the very neo-Nazis who we have been vigorously organizing against. Our supporters on the ground identified several fascist and crypto-fascist individuals, one of whom was wearing a Trump T-shirt and doing a Nazi salute while being protected by bouncers. Some local community members would pass by and join in shouting aggressively at the fascists in the crowd and making it clear that Nazis, their sympathizers, and these “WWII fans” were not ****ing welcome in the 41! (The 41 is a local name for the area.) We kept our eyes on the crowd, picking out the actual neo-Nazis and committed fascists, distinct from the general misguided and unscrupulous metalheads (the latter should be criticized for their unacceptable pardoning and normalization of fascist messages and for fraternizing with fascists but not targeted with specific violence like the former must be).
Not long into the action, according to a supporter on the ground, the antifascists spotted one of their targets, Connor Halsell, a local fascist organizer and individual whom Austin antifascists have been monitoring for months. If you walk around the area of East Riverside, East Pleasant Valley, and other parts of the 41, you see hundreds of posters with Connor’s face across them reading “Warning: Neo-Nazi” and containing all of his personal information, including his home address in Austin at 1300 Crossing Place as well as his parents’ home address in San Antonio. These posters have caused a stir in the area, serving as a community big character poster much like the ones that played a major role in the Cultural Revolution in China. The posters have been very popular here, earning some mass interest in antifascism. Local youths have promised to remember his face and give him a greeting he won’t soon forget should their paths cross. Everyone old and young alike has been disgusted to find out that an active fascist organizer is hiding out in our community, which is majority Mexican but hosts many Chicano, black and Asian people as well. We all agree that such scum are not welcome in our hood.

He was however identified by wearing an anticommunist patch with a hammer and sickle crossed out and other patches, including more open white power symbols. Antifascists wasted no time upholding the slogan postered around town, which reads “Assault fascists on sight.” Connor got Richard Spencered in the face with a run punch (a small greeting for a Nazi—we prefer they never get back up). Connor being the weak coward that he is made sure to bring his own bodyguard, who stupidly flashed a handgun but smartly failed to use it. Truth is our comrades on the ground were never unprepared for this to happen and he would have hit the ground before he pulled the trigger. When neo-Nazis draw guns aimed at antifascists in Austin, they will be shot down like their predecessors have been elsewhere in the past. We reaffirm the commitment made back in November that we will not tolerate another Greensboro Massacre or another Klan stabbing like in Sacramento. We especially will not tolerate a comrade being shot like the comrade who was shot in Seattle recently, and in that comrade’s name antifascists were more than ready to make the body count go up on the fascist side should we have to defend ourselves with deadly force, which is well, fine, and legal in the state of Texas. While the armed goon with poor hygiene had to wait outside with his little handgun, the actual prey scurried like a rat inside to join his coward counterparts hiding behind club security.

The whole venue of Grizzly Hall is a cesspool of ill repute and bad elements. It is a gentrifying force in our neighborhood, bringing in white hipsters and racist metal fans. While we have nothing against metalheads, especially our local youth who are opposed to racism, we as a community should not have to tolerate the existence of a place like Grizzly Hall, which materially supports and protects fascists, giving them not only a platform but a “safe space.” Grizzly Hall should be treated as the cancer that it is and community members should waste no time getting rid of it however they see fit. For us these times necessitate better defenses against fascism. Antifascism must become the most day-to-day activity and not reserved for reacting to fascist activity.
For us antifascism comes in the form of the simultaneous construction of the communist party and its people’s army as well as a united front. This is the only type of party that stands a chance against the organized hordes of reaction. This party will make a grave for fascism in this country. We encourage structure and organization, discipline, and a chain of command in the context of antifascist struggles. While we will work with any comrade who is committed to fighting fascism whether they are anarchists or communists, we insist that there is a need for a militarized antifascist movement that has honed its technical ability to fight as well as its ideological and political lines. As many longtime fighters and new recruits alike begin more and more to cast aside all illusions, we march steadily towards an antifa of a new type! Do not give the enemy an inch and do not let fascists feel safe anywhere.

URGENT: Arrest in Austin, support needed quickly


Tonight a very important leader of the movement in Austin has been targeted by the pigs and framed on felony charges. This is the second time since November that the pigs have charged a local organizer with assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony. These charges are false but carry serious prison time. In the era of Trump and rising fascist populism a black woman has been singled out and targeted by the pigs. The people and revolutionaries rushed to her defense and took the brunt of batons and pepper spray and were run over with bicycles all at the hands of the pigs. While one of us sits in the dungeons of the racist oppressor none of us feel free. It is our goal to raise hell and fight tirelessly for this comrade. She is a longtime revolutionary organizer and fighter for the people, a dedicated antifascist who has fiercely defended and stood by all of Austin’s radical left. Those of us who have had the pleasure to serve alongside her have only one driving thought: FREE OUR COMRADE. Revolutionaries converged on the jail to demand her release and have launched a fundraiser to go toward organizing for her defense.
Since the Austin Police Department has entered the Trump era, their low-intensity warfare strategy has been abandoned and they have used increased levels of violence on revolutionaries and the masses of people. Youth from the projects came out bravely in her defense and fought the pigs but were not able to liberate her from the enemy. Now your help is needed. We call all supporters and all comrades to please give to this cause. Please know that while we intend to write a summation and analysis of today’s anti-gentrification march and ongoing anti-ICE resistance, for now, time is of the essence, and we must not let her sit in the clutches of the enemy. While we and other revolutionaries are prepared to pay the price in our own blood, so too are we ready to fight, and we refuse to take these arrests with the bourgeois docility which this system promotes. Communists are fighters, and this movement is only as good as its support for its political prisoners.
Even in this moment the masses in North Austin are rebelling heroically against ICE raids, and our best are beside them, facing more targeted arrest and violent attacks. We need those who are with us in the spirit of fighting to help spread this statement. Defend Our Hoodz called upon the people to rebel against the gentrifying scum and the fascist neo-Nazis who back them. More than ever we stand firmly behind this cause and will fight the right without mercy. **** gentrification, fight ICE with fire, and death to fascism. “Hi Kim, while judging people as stupid is easy, there are many things Trump has said that are problematic.

“The point is that, if Trump is NOT Hitler, this will become more clear over time. Just as a huge part of the Trump supporters were actually more anti-Hillary, many Dems are more anti-Trump than pro-socialist.
“For the Trump-haters, “this, too, shall pass”. So better to pause the friendship for a couple of months, rather than ending it.”

Tom, the problem is that the schism in our body politic long predates Trump — he’s just the reaction to the fact that the Left has persisted in its Long March through all our public institutions, making the schism all the greater. The Trump Derangement Effect is largely because up until now, the Left has hardly ever been challenged by the likes of the GOP establishment (GOPe) and near-Republicans like Bush 41 and 43. The Left’s hysteria is nothing new — they said the same stuff about Goldwater, Reagan, GWB and all the Republican presidential candidates to one degree or another. Now it’s just at boiling-point, because, maybe for the first time, they’ve encountered serious resistance to their so-called “progressivism”, and the depth of that resistance (Trump: 2,626 counties won, Hillary: 487 counties) has frightened them (hence their screaming about “popular votes”). It’s also frightened the GOPe almost as much. As Instapundit commenter Lars from Centerville put it:

“The Left has been at war with American citizens for several decades. They are attacking culturally, socially, politically, financially, and with weaponized government institutions. The GOP has proved unworthy and unwilling to fight back. A major reason why Trump was elected. It is time to crush the Left decisively. That means crushing the GOP if they stand in the way. Ryan, McConnell, McCain, and Graham ought to pay attention. The clock is running and the dates on their packaging has expired.”

I don’t think this conflict is going to die down. When two irreconcilable philosophies clash, the result is war — not always literal war (e.g. civil war), but a bitter war nevertheless, fought in the media, on campuses, in the streets sometimes, and in social gatherings. This war will not end, and the couple months’ pause in friendship that you suggest may well turn out to be permanent.
And I’m sorry, but when people fail to see that their socio-political philosophy is worthless and venal despite all the evidence thereof, then I think they’re stupid. The only other alternative is “evil”, but that’s what they’re calling Trump (without foundation), so I’ll just go with stupid. For now.

Google Pledges $11.5 Million to Make Sure Black Lives Matter

Internet giant Google has pledged to donate $11.5 million in grants to four organizations combating racial disparities in the criminal justice system. While Google would not phrase their grants in this way, one of the recipients has praised the Black Lives Matter movement as "civil rights demonstrations," and the cause of these organizations does overlap with the Black Lives Matter movement.
"There is significant ambiguity regarding the extent of racial bias in policing and criminal sentencing," Justin Steele, principal with Google.org, the company's philanthropic arm, told USA Today. "We must find ways to improve the accessibility and usefulness of information."
Steele presented the grants as a way to quantify the racial disparity in the justice system. It is hard to know the full extent to which black people are treated differently than white people. Even South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott has shared personal stories of "frustration" with cops, in the nation's capital!
"It's hard to measure justice," Phillip Atiba Goff, co-founder and president at the Center for Policing Equity (which will receive $5 million, the largest share of Google's grants), told USA Today. "In policing, data are so sparse and they are not shared broadly. The National Justice Database is an attempt to measure justice so that people who want to do the right thing can use that metric to lay out a GPS for getting where we are trying to go. That's really what we see Google as being a key partner in helping us do."

Naturally, USA Today had to report that Google "is trying to address the racial imbalance in the demographics of its workforce. Hispanics make up 3% of Google employees and African Americans 2%." USA Today likely omitted the number of whites (61 percent), because the number of Asians (30 percent) is so high, according to a 2014 PBS report.
But rather than confirming a racial bias against minorities, the fact that Google, a majority-white company, is nevertheless heavily subsidizing efforts to quantify racial disparities in criminal justice should be heartening, especially to the Black Lives Matter movement.
Indeed, one of the groups Google is supporting, the Equal Justice Initiative, explicitly endorsed Black Lives Matter in one of its videos, calling the group "civil rights demonstrators." That video linked slavery to mass incarceration, lamenting that "many states celebrate the era of slavery with Confederate holidays and by honoring the defenders and architects of slavery, while ignoring the history of enslavement."



Sen. Tim Scott DESTROYS N-Word Attacks for Supporting Sessions

This is a horrifying insult to all those who commemorate the Civil War and view the battle as a fight over states' rights. While I consider their viewpoints incorrect, I do not dismiss as racist those who commemorate the Confederacy, and neither should the Equal Justice Initiative.

That said, the organization aims to "foster an honest conversation about the legacy of slavery" and about "mass incarceration." This conversation is important, and the organizations to which Google is contributing do help to quantify the numbers.
Here are the grants broken down: Google will give $ 1 million to the Equal Justice Initiative, a group focused on confronting past injustices; $5 million to the Center for Policing Equity to build a national database to track police departments' use of force and traffic stops; $1 million to Impact Justice, a group which focuses on keeping juveniles out of the criminal justice system; and $1.5 million to Measures for Justice to build an Internet system to show how local municipalities treat people based on various characteristics such as gender, color, and age.
Despite the importance of ensuring justice for all, and the undeniable disparities between white and black crime, racism and anti-police violence have plagued the Black Lives Matter movement. Many BLM protests have degenerated into riots, during which white people have been targeted for the color of their skin. Some Black Lives Matter graffiti also included the slogan "Kill white people." A man claiming to be the brother of Keith Lamont Scott, a black man killed by a black cop in Charlotte, declared, "All white people are f***in' devils!" One Black Lives Matter activist was even shunned by The Huffington Post for her overt racism.
Criminal justice reform is an important cause, and should not be confused with the negative aspects of this movement. Nevertheless, as these groups rightly advocate for justice, they must be careful not to fall into these racial and anti-police traps.

Google has given to similar groups before. In 2015, the Internet giant gave $2.35 million to organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area focused on systemic racism in the criminal justice system. In 2016, it gave four grants totaling $3 million ($1 million to the Equal Justice Initiative).

Agenda → The Shadow Government Is Here: What Can You Do?

Obama’s shadow government? Is this true or another means to divide us? Unfortunately, this is true. What is worse is that we were told 4 years ago that this was their plan. For the purposes of this article, the two “sides” are the Shadow Government [SG] and the people. I will let you decide what the “people” represents because this country has been successfully divided based any divisive term or label deemed appropriate to divide the people. My definition of the people is simple: people who believe in the founding principles of the country and the Bible.
Here is Maxine Waters outlining the SG plan 4 years ago below:
So what can you do? First, you have to make a decision: are you willing to stand up? This is not to be taken lightly. If you are willing to stand up to the SG, you have to understand that you will be considered guilty of sedition since the SG is the government. Let that sink in. Once you understand that the intelligence agencies, justice department, IRS, BLM and most other government agencies have been in place for years with this specific goal in place, do you believe a new President will be able to fight them? You have to look now further than Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and John McCain for your answer about which side the political elite represent.
Most people have been lulled into a false sense of security because of the “victory” in the 2016 election? If you believe that time will heal this country, read this quote from Samuel Adams:
“If you love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.”
If you do not see the peril facing this country, please leave now and let your chains and yokes rest lightly upon you. And your children. I doubt the SG will be so lenient.

Still here? Then you must become proactive and use the same tactics that the SG is using: community organizing. Sign up on Moveon.org and Organizing for Action emails. They are more than willing to recruit what they perceive as new useful idiots. Go to their events and understand that they are using the tactics outlined by Alinsky in Rules for Radicals.
Expose them. Go to town halls and protests to videotape/photograph them. Find out if they use their real names and what organizations they represent. I will give you a great “tell”: if they have printed signed at their protests, they are representing the SG. Look at any websites on these signs and do more research. Then expose them. This is the hardest part since they are well organized, have funding and have the media under their control. We have limited resources to expose them. And they know it as the Waters’ video above shows.
What do we have on our “side” to expose them? Now you are starting to see the consequences of apathy that has given the SG their greatest weapon: the time to organize communities against us. It takes time, money, patience and intelligence to organize a community. Notice that I left the church off of this list. There are very few Black Robe pastors in this country. The church has sold itself for thirty pieces of silver to keep their tax exempt status. I do not expect people to like that statement so I encourage you to follow the same path that I did eight years ago with today’s “church”. Knowing that time is of the essence, do not waste too much time with the church before you see it is a dead end. As a corollary, the country’s other church is actively organizing: it is called “Muslim Terrorism”.
So the initial question was “The Shadow Government Is Here: What Can You Do”? The real question is “The Shadow Government Is Here: What Will You Do”?
