Default Hey Summertyme or Samuel Adams

    Hey,

Got a question for you guys.

As you may have read in a couple of other threads, we are prepping to go somewhat agrarian.

To have plants, like tomatoes etc. ready to go in the ground come spring, I'm thinking you have to start them from seed in a sort of green house type of thingy, earlier.

Was wondering when that might be?

Thinking it might be somewhat later for Summertyme being a good bit north of here. So am also asking SA, since we are on sort of the same latitude, and even can understand each other LOL (southerneze, no offence Summertyme).

My green house type of thingy will probably be a box with a glass lid that will raise up and down.

Anyone else can answer, that would be fine, the more the merrier.

I believe MIRADUS is in TX or mehbe AZ Cary. He'd be a good one to ask too.

You're right OW. It really is my bad. There ain't no telling the times I would tell Sherree, he's right out side Abilene. And Sherree would say who? I'd say SA, and she would correct me as she is want to do, and say that was Miradus, and I was like duh. And I still do it.

'side that you got any suggestions?

Trying to stop spending money on garden plants, we were wondering when to start seeds in the hot box. We've never done this before. We have a variety of heirloom tomato seeds.

Hoo haa. I was going to say check your inbox, but instead let me say you're going to have to delete some first LOL.

Just so you know, you're not violating any rules, cuz I've been a good boy all year.

I start mine in my basement under shop lights.
I have one of those metal shelving units and attach the lights to chains so I can raise and lower them.

This year was the first time I added a space heater.
Made a real big difference in how well things sprouted this year.
    Especially, peppers.

Between that and my other wide 2 shelf unit, I can get about 700 plants in trays started

Edit: you didn't ask my opinion but it's never stopped me bore.

Davy, anyone feel free to join in!

We live in a tiny house with no basement. All we have is a hot box outside that Cary has to make and a small east facing window that can be used for seed starting. Everything we grow in our gardens are started from seed planted directly in the ground, once it's warm enough. This will be our first year to start tomatoes from seeds. We want to start them in those seed starter trays, then transplant to the ground after it warms, and they're big enough. Just don't know when to start the seeds in our area.

You seem to already be way ahead of us, and you are way farther north than we are!
