Details Tony ... specific details. Not from you and not for my benefit as I'm keenly aware of the irreversible destruction mankind has wrought on our planet. As to the effects in regard to the climate, to evoke an understanding, specific details are required.

Current solution is extortion for carbon credits ... no change in behaviors but a change in operating costs.

Real solutions, if there are any, will flat line profit margin ... and we all know this isn't gonna be allowed.

Best solution that I have heard is replacing the federal income tax with a carbon tax of about $20 / ton. It would be levied on those who produce coal or petroleum products. It of course would be passed on, but would encourage speedy adoption of renewable energy sources.

Tillerson, the incoming Sec of State, supports this approach.

It’s also much more informative to look, not at just the annual minimum values, but at the annual average values

This year will have, without doubt, the lowest annual average on record.

They haven’t talked much about Arctic sea ice since September, because
as much as the April-May lows were a shock, a bigger shock by far is
    what happened since October:

Curious. Are these studies squandering wee peepses tax dollars or are they being funded by grants from other "private parties"?

Quite a mix. In addition to NASA and NOAA, there is the British Met office, several European agencies, JAXA (Japanese), a Chinese agency, numerous universities around the world and loads of private foundations and individuals.

As to my last post, this appears at the end of Tamino's report -- "This blog is made possible by readers like you; join others by donating at Peaseblossom’s Closet."

Here are some some other data sets from scientists around the world that you do not fund
