    Obama’s “Shameful Betrayal” of Israel

    Netanyahu calls it right.

If any doubts remained about Obama’s malignant narcissism, historical ignorance, and geopolitical cretinism, the lame-duck-in-chief dispelled them with his abstention at the Security Council vote on a resolution slandering Israeli “settlements” as the foremost obstacle to peace. Undoing this despicable abandonment of a crucial ally should shoot to the top of incoming president Donald Trump’s to-do list.

Israeli intelligence has demonstrated that this diplomatic drive-by was orchestrated by Obama himself. “From the information that we have, we have no doubt that the Obama administration initiated it, stood behind it, coordinated on the wording and demanded that it be passed,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of what he rightly called a “shameful betrayal.” On the one hand, such back-door machinations are par for the course in the corrupt U.N. When the Bush administration in 2002 was trying to get a U.N. resolution authorizing the Iraq War, Germany lobbied non-permanent Security Council members Mexico, Chile, Cameroon, and Angola to vote against the resolution, which ultimately failed.

But German Chancellor Gerhard Schröeder had grubby political reasons for his meddling. He was running for reelection on a dismal economic record, and found a useful distraction by tapping into German anti-Americanism and reflexive pacifism. So too with France’s machinations and opposition to the war, which were aimed at ending the sanctions on Iraq so that France could get back to doing profitable business with Saddam Hussein, who in 1983 was buying half of all French arms exports.

These actions are bad enough, and are evidence that the U.N. exists to serve the interests of member countries, usually at the expense of other member countries. But Obama has no such utilitarian motives. He’s done with running for office. His reasons for betraying Israel comprise petty spite at Netanyahu for stoutly and publicly resisting Obama’s policies and actions that endanger his beleaguered country; and obeisance to left-wing historical fantasies about “colonialism,” the “two-state solution,” and Palestinian Arab “national aspirations.” In other words, the clichés one would expect from a badly educated university adjunct professor for whom left-wing bromides function as fashion statements and status assertion.

History, of course, tells a different story. There is no “Palestinian” people or “homeland.” There are Arabs whose historical homeland is the Arabian Peninsula. Any Arab living elsewhere is the descendant of invaders, colonizers, occupiers, and immigrants. There are no “occupied territories” or “borders,” but rather contested territories which are bounded by the 1967 armistice line, and the disposition of which will be decided through a negotiated settlement. The “West Bank” is a euphemism for the historical Jewish districts of Judea and Samaria. Jerusalem is not an Arab city, but for three thousand years has been the capital of the Jewish people, who have inhabited it continuously. The “settlements” are not colonial outposts created at the expense of their rightful owners, but towns and cities in the ancient Jewish homeland, most of them on land purchased from Arab landowners happy to make a profit on such barren tracts.

Nor is Israel an “illegitimate” country. Its existence is the result of international law as created by treaties, conferences, the League of Nations, and the U.N. resolution which established an Arab and a Jewish state, the latter comprising one-quarter of the territory mandated for Israel in the postwar settlement. Israel is as legitimate, and in fact even more legitimate, than the other states created in the region like Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq, or the states like Hungary, Austria, the Kingdom of Serbs and Croats, and Czechoslovakia created after the dismemberment of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Moreover, Israel has had to fight off three armed attacks against it on the part of Arab countries that disregarded the U.N. resolution, Article 39 of the U.N. Charter, and numerous international treaties. Instead they tried to win by force land given to the despised dhimmi Jews they had oppressed and dominated for over a thousand years. They tried and lost, and and in 1967 suffered the eternal wages of failed aggressors––loss of territory. Only in this case, the territory the Arabs lost was theirs only by dint of conquest, not legitimacy, and its loss was no different from the Muslim loss of Spain to the Reconquista, or from Greece’s liberation from the Ottomans in 1832. But the land won by the Israelis in the defensive war had been Jewish since the 13th century B.C.

So why this bizarre animus against Israel on the part of the West, this disdain if not hatred of what one French minister called a “****ty little country”? Short-sighted American “realists” don’t believe that defending the region’s only liberal democracy and respecter of human rights is worth antagonizing countries comprising five of the top ten global oil producers. Equally short-sighted European realists, faced with unassimilated Muslim immigrants who hate the West, think they can buy some peace (and access to Middle Eastern labor and business opportunities) by appeasing the Arabs through bullying and slandering Israel.

Leftists hate Israel because they think it is a stooge of neo-colonialist America, an outpost of imperialism oppressing the “natives,” and like America it is a graphic repudiation of leftism’s utopian delusions. Sentimental Third-Worldism prefers the exotic, quaint “other of color” and their more “authentic and vibrant” cultures over a go-getting, brash, innovative people wildly succeeding by adopting the modern Western paradigm of political freedom and open markets. Juvenile idealizers of romantic revolutionary violence are turned on by the “freedom-fighters” and a “resistance” that use action to achieve their aims, even if that violence is indiscriminate terrorism against innocents. The global diplomatic establishment sees Israel as the impediment to some grand diplomatic triumph that will validate their magical thinking about the superiority of talk over action. And don’t forget that post-Holocaust anti-Semitism has found a respectable camouflage in hating the idea of Zionism while ignoring the near-century of terrorist violence and aggression directed at flesh-and-blood Jewish people.

Whether cold calculations of interest or irrational ideological compulsions and prejudices, none of these reasons for demonizing Israel is founded on coherent principle, consistent standards of judgment, or even historical fact. The conflict is not about “settlements” or “check-points” or “national aspirations.” It’s about Islamic-sanctioned Jew hatred, and Arab humiliation and resentment of a handful of refugee Jews who developed lands bare of resources into a nation more militarily powerful and economically successful than their Arab neighbors. No “two-state solution” is going to change these ancient and deep-seated religious beliefs and psychological wounds.
But what can Trump do about it? In the long-run, he must in word and deed tell the world that the U.S. will defend Israel and ensure its security no matter what the “international community” says or does. One place to start is by punishing the U.N. for this despicable resolution by stopping the $8 billion a year we taxpayers contribute to that corrupt country club for international thugs, dictators, autocrats, and their European useful idiots. I don’t mean a token reduction like the $60 million withheld for a while from UNESCO for admitting the Palestinian Authority as a member. Cut it all off.

More importantly, this latest outrage is an opportunity to rethink this country’s participation in an organization that works against our interests and those of our allies, justifies terrorism as legitimate “resistance,” and demonizes Israel while ignoring the millions of people slaughtered in the Balkans, Rwanda, Sudan, and today in Syria. We need to repudiate the delusional belief undergirding our participation in the U.N.: that unelected, unaccountable functionaries of pygmy states and thug regimes can more justly determine the legitimacy of the United States’ foreign policy and behavior than the American people.

In reality, the legitimacy of American actions is conferred by the democratic process: the free, open debate on the part of citizens who can hold their leaders accountable and have a sense of the ideals and principles that animate our foreign policy and provide its goals. Subjecting those decisions to the corrupt deliberations of the U.N. often compromises our own interests and endangers our national security.

So punish the U.N. for damaging our ally, then start the process of getting out by withholding our dues. That will get the world’s attention and, like the thought of being hanged in a fortnight, concentrate their minds wonderfully.

Israel is a classic example of the benefits of America. The sectarian hatred in the old world is not fixable but by brute force. Israel does have a right to exist. It being the only Democratic style country in the M.E. it should have our full support. I really wish the west would have put more effort in the support and stabilization of Lebanon.

The whole Israel/Jewish subject is very interesting as far as who sides with who. Liberals in general, who side with Jews here in the USA, are against the state of Israel and want it to succumb to multiculturalism. Parts of the far-right, who are against Jewish influence here, are not against the state of Israel. Very complicated indeed.

The Anti-Israel Bias of the United Church of Christ

How the UCC guide is antithetical to justice and peace.

    December 28, 2016
    Joseph Puder

This last August, the United Church of Christ (UCC) offered its church leaders and parishioners a guide titled “Promoting a Just Peace in Palestine-Israel.” The document is neither just, nor does it offer peace. The guide begins with a reference to the 2009 Kairos Palestine Document titled A Moment of Truth, and it is explained to be a Palestinian-Christian call on churches of the world to “stand with the Oppressed in Palestine-Israel,” asking churches “Are you able to help us get our freedom back?”
One can view the UCC guide as naïve, but that cannot explain the inherent anti-Jewish and anti-Israel bias involved in this case. The Kairos Palestine Document was written by Arab-Christians who are dhimmis or simply put, hostages in their Muslim - dominated societies. In order to save their skin, rather dishonorably, they are willing to help Palestinian propaganda led by authoritarian figures who care little about their own people, let alone their Christian minority. As case in point, the city of Bethlehem is now almost totally populated by Muslims. The once majority Christian population was pushed out by oppression that involved intimidation, use of violence, extortion, rape and murder of Christians, not by Israelis, but by Palestinian Muslim gangs sanctioned by Arafat, Hamas, and the Palestinian Authority. This reporter asked the late Christian mayor of Bethlehem, Elias Freij, where are all the Christians of Bethlehem? He pointed a finger westward, and replied, “In Santiago de Chile.”
In 2015, at the 30th General Synod of the UCC, a resolution was adopted titled “A call for the UCC to take action toward a just peace in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.” That action appears to be a UCC resolution that calls for “divestment from companies which are complicit in and/or profit from human rights violations arising from occupation of the ‘Palestinian territories’ by the State of Israel, and for boycott of products produced in ‘illegal’ Israeli settlements located in occupied Palestinian territories.”
The worst possible human rights violation is murderous Palestinian terror, of which even infant Jewish-Israelis are not spared. The UCC failure to even mention Palestinian terrorism is not only hypocritical, it reveals the deep seated hostility to the Jewish state.
Individual Palestinian owned land in Judea and Samaria does exist, but there is no such thing as “Palestinian territories.” There is not a recognized Palestinian state nor has it ever existed. Unless the “good people” of the UCC share the Muslim idea of a “Judenrein” Judea and Samaria, Israeli-Jews have the same right to settle on public lands as do Muslim-Arabs. Why is it that Arab-Muslims can freely live in Israel but Jews cannot live in the cradle of the Judeo-Christian civilization, where Jews resided for millenniums? Finally, the territories mentioned in the UCC resolution are not “occupied” but rather legally administered by Israel until a peaceful resolution can decide the disposition of the territories.
The guide’s first chapter titled “The Current Urgent Situation” shows a map of Palestine, which alleges creeping Israeli annexation. The guide’s biased disposition toward Israel failed to mention that the Palestinian-Arabs rejected the 1947 UN Partition Plan that would have given them a state. Instead, they chose to annihilate the nascent Jewish state, following the horrors of the Holocaust. The Jewish state had to defend itself against Palestinian terror squads, and regular Arab armies, with inferior arms and manpower.
In May, 1967, Israel’s Prime Minister Levi Eshkol pleaded with Jordan’s King Hussein to stay out of the war following Egypt’s ejection of UN peacekeepers in the Sinai, and the closure of the Straits of Tiran to Israeli navigation. The Jordanian army shelled Israeli airbases on the eve of the war and joined with Egypt and Syria in a war to “throw the Jews into the sea.” As a consequence, the Old City of Jerusalem and the Jewish Quarter were liberated, as was the Etzion Bloc of Jewish settlements and the West Bank (Judea and Samaria) that the Jordanian Arab Legion occupied illegally in 1948.

That same chapter deals with the “so called Separation Wall,” but nowhere does the question of why Israel decided to erect the wall arise. The clear answer is the murderous Palestinian-Arab terrorism against Jewish civilians. Israel has the moral right and duty to protect its citizens.
According to the UCC guide, Israel denies water to the West Bank Palestinians. This is an outright lie. Under the Oslo Accords, Israel was required to supply 31 million cubic meters of water per year to the Palestinians which has been exceeded by a considerable degree. According to statistics published by the Israeli Water Authority in 2012, Israel has provided an additional 53.3 million cubic meters per year to the Palestinian water supply.
The UCC guide claims that “Israel conducted full-scale bombardment of Gaza in 2008, 2012, and 2014.” Yet, it does not tell the readers that Gaza, controlled by the Hamas Islamist terrorist group, has fired thousands of rockets at Israel, targeting Israeli civilians, including kindergarten children. Israel retaliated against these attacks, as any nation would do to defend its citizens. Israel went through the pain of minimizing Palestinian civilian casualties by targeting only armed terrorists. Hamas, on its part, used women and children as “human shields,” placing its rockets in schools and hospitals, deliberately endangering its people, hoping for civilian casualties as a propaganda tool. The UCC is now echoing that same propaganda. Col. Richard Kemp, commander of the British Forces in Afghanistan had this to say about the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), “I believe that on the basis of everything that I’ve seen, that everything the IDF does to protect civilians and to stop the death of innocent civilians, is a great deal more than any other army, and it’s more than the British and the American army.”
The guide directs its members and activists to read the libelous Kairos documents and instructs them on how to go about boycotting Israeli products and divest from companies doing business in Israel. The UCC, like the Nazis in Hitler’s Germany, are singling out the Jewish state for Boycott, Divestments and Sanctions (BDS), joining hands with the Palestinian propaganda machine. Little thought has been given to the damage it would do to Palestinians in the West Bank, who depend on Israeli jobs.
Bassem Eid, a Palestinian Human Rights activist interviewed by this reporter, charged, “I would like to ask who appointed the BDS to speak on behalf of the Palestinians? The BDS movement is operating in Europe and the U.S., but has no presence in the West Bank and Gaza, or even in the Arab world. These BDS people are exploiting the Palestinian suffering, and much like the UN and UNRWA, are making a nice living off our backs and our suffering.”
The UCC guide has gone one step further. It instructs its followers to engage in political action, including limiting arms sales to Israel, and overturning 16 U.S. anti-BDS legislations. The legislators of these major states recognized the inherent anti-Israel bias and latent anti-Semitism embedded in the BDS campaigns, whether on campus or in mainline Protestant churches such as the UCC. Singling out Israel, the only free democratic state in the Middle East, where religious freedom, human rights, and free speech are enshrined in law, is an abomination. For the UCC to target Israel can only be explained as latent anti-Semitism given all the atrocities throughout the Middle East, where countless Christians have been slaughtered. “Promoting a just peace in Palestine-Israel” through boycott and divestment against Israel isn’t just, and it is most certainly not a vehicle for peace.

Understanding Obama/Kerry’s Recent Approach Toward Israel and the Palestinians…

Posted on December 28, 2016 by sundance
There are numerous reports where the current events surrounding President Obama’s push to paint Israel into a corner are specifically outlined and addressed with specificity. However, if you really want to understand what’s going on, you must reference the longer game as it has been domestically constructed and ignored by most media.
Those who have followed domestic U.S. pro-Palestinian activism over the past several years will be able to more easily understand current events against the larger backdrop.
First, it is critical to remember, the antagonistic left fully anticipated Secretary Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
Therefore all of the current U.S. political maneuvers, as recently evidenced, must be viewed as increasingly desperate now that their long-term objectives have been cut off by the insurgent win of Donald Trump.
In short, the longer-term approach from the politically professional left, in conjunction with the political activism of the social justice warriors, has been to undermine Israel, and yet do so without visibility toward undermining Israel. Continue reading →

Report: Egyptian Media Have Transcript of Kerry/Rice Colluding With Palestinian Authority Against Israel…

Posted on December 27, 2016 by sundance
This is disturbing. According to The Times of Israel, the Egyptian government have transcripts of communication showing Secretary Kerry and Susan Rice formulating a plan with the Palestinian Authority to create the anti-Israeli U.N. scheme; and beyond…

The usual suspects: Samantha Power, Susan Rice, President Obama.
(Via Times of Israel) An Egyptian paper published what it claims are the transcripts of meetings between top US and Palestinian officials that, if true, would corroborate Israeli accusations that the Obama administration was behind last week’s UN Security Council resolution condemning Israeli settlements.
At the same time, a report in an Israeli daily Tuesday night pointed to Britain helping draft the resolution and high drama in the hours leading up to the vote, as Jerusalem tried to convince New Zealand to bury the Security Council measure.
