Pope frets about 'hemorrhage' of priests, nuns from church

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- Pope Francis says he is concerned about what he calls a "hemorrhage" of priests and nuns from the Catholic church.
The pope on Saturday told participants at a Vatican gathering on religious life that the loss of clergy is weakening the church.
First among the factors he cited as causing nuns and priests to quit their vocations is a society that discourages lifelong commitments. Francis lamented that many conduct their lives based on "a la carte" choices.
For decades, the Catholic church in many developed countries has seen the number of priests and nuns on the decline.

Europe used to have empires. They were run by emperors.
Then we had kingdoms. They were run by kings.
    Now we have countries...

If the Pope can just hang on for a while longer, he'll see the RCC swept up in the antiChrist's one world religion, then things will get really lively.

The RCC is experiencing the same phenomenon as the reformed church is experiencing. There have been several waves of laity leaving....and the demographic populations are not showing up again anywhere that polsters and demographic statisticians are looking. And now, there is a new wave of people leaving the church. But this time around, it is leadership who are leaving. The OP highlights that the RCC officiql position is identical to that of the Protestant denominations.....blame the laity....blame the culture.....blame the devil....anything but looking inwardly. We're entering a time when people are either dumbed down or wised up, but which ever it is, the institutionalized church gig is just about up.
But what weapons can you use to dispossess someone who will not accept anything except Holy Scripture interpreted according to his own rules?...Where Lutheranism reigns, learning dies. They seek only two things: good pay and a wife. The gospel offers them the rest — that is, the power of living as they please.

I understand now how Arius and Tertullian and Wickliff were driven into schism by malicious clergy and wicked monks.

They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
