Trump Responds To WaPo Story: "I Had Absolute Right To Share Facts With Russia"

In the aftermath of the WaPo story accusing Trump of improperly sharing highly confidential information with Russia's foreign minister Peskov during their meeting one week ago (and one day after the firing of James Comey), Donald Trump took to Twitter to defend his Russia comments amid mounting criticism he may either have broken the law or acted inappropriately in divulging secret information.

In two tweets, Trump said "As President I wanted to share with Russia (at an openly scheduled W.H. meeting) which I have the absolute right to do, facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety. Humanitarian reasons, plus I want Russia to greatly step up their fight against ISIS & terrorism."

According to the WaPo and other media, all citing unnamed sources, Trump allegedly revealed “code-word information” related to threats from ISIS in Iraq and Syria that had been provided by a U.S. ally in the region, supposedly Israel. One official told The Post that the information was so sensitive it had not been provided to U.S. allies.

On Monday afternoon, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster defended Trump's disclosure saying "There is nothing that the President takes more seriously than the security of the American people" and added that "the story that came out tonight as reported is false. The president the foreign minister reviewed a range of common threats to our two countries, including threats to civil aviation. At no time, at no time were intelligence sources or methods discussed. And the president did not disclose any military operations that were not already publicly known. Two other senior officials who were present, including the Secretary of State, remembered the meeting the same way and have said so. Their on-the-record accounts should outweigh those of anonymous sources."

Russia also reacted this morning, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov telling that “we don’t want anything to do with this nonsense,” in response to question on report that U.S. President Donald Trump disclosed sensitive classified information at White House meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

It is doubtful either of these denials will mute the rising chorus amid the press and Democrats demanding an official hearing, as well as full disclosure of what was said and whether Trump broke laws when speaking to the Russians.

Meanwhile, the infamously fired former acting AG Sally Yates raised the stakes on Tuesday morning when discussing the Trump story, she told CNN "There's certainly a criminal statute that was implicated by his conduct"...

    Note the pattern --

    WHITE HOUSE: Not a ban
    TRUMP: It's a ban

WHITE HOUSE: Not fired because of Russia
    TRUMP: Fired because of Russia

    WHITE HOUSE: Didn't leak info
    TRUMP: I leaked info

Yes, I see a pattern. Trump tells THE TRUTH.

What a concept, certainly foreign, (and scary), to DC swamp dwellers.

The mainstream media is like an insane, rabid hunting dog furiously chasing its own tail. The establishment politicians mindlessly cheer the dog on, sure this endless circular run will in the end with meat on the table. The prey they seek stands just feet away enjoying the show.

Something to keep in mind -- there are no carryovers from the Obama White House in the West Wing. As is the custom, all WW staff, even secretaries, departed by January 20. (This came as a surprise to Trump, who did not realize that the WW did not come with a professional staff.) In other words, when Trump has contradicted the White House on these occasions, he is contradicting, and embarrassing, people whom he has hired since January 20.

Where did he say he leaked info?

Only Godwit could be so blatantly dishonest as to make me defend Trump, but truth is more important than what I think about Trump in general.

Listen up Dimwit: Trump hasn't "confirmed" that he "leaked" anything. He has only "admitted" to discussing with the Russian subjects for which details were already in the public domain. In other words, declassified material.

Anonymous sources from the West Wing or any other paper or publication don't override the unequivocal denials by Tillerson, McMaster and others who were in the meeting in question.

Trump is such an easy target. It's unfathomable why you'd have to rely on anonymous liars to make a case against him. But then, the user-name "GodwitToo" is an anonymous liar also, so there is that.

National security experts: Trump's sharing classified info with Russia 'may breach his oath of office'

The Post reported on Monday night that Trump's disclosures to
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergei
Kislyak "jeopardized a critical source of intelligence on the
Islamic State" and "had been provided by a US partner through an
intelligence-sharing arrangement considered so sensitive that
details have been withheld from allies and tightly restricted
    even within the US government."

Many have noted that Trump, as president, is legally allowed to
essentially disclose classified information to whomever he wants.
But the fact that the information he shared was not a US secret,
but that of an American ally, may complicate his authority to
declassify information at will. Matthew Rosenberg of The New York
Times told CNN on Monday that the intel came from a close "Middle
    Eastern ally."

Bombshell: Initial Thoughts on the Washington Post’s Game-Changing Story

The Washington Post this afternoon published a stunning story
reporting that President Trump disclosed highly-classified information
to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Ambassador Sergey Kislyak
during their visit to the Oval Office last week.

    According to the Post,

In his meeting with Lavrov, Trump seemed to be boasting
about his inside knowledge of the looming threat. “I get great intel. I
have people brief me on great intel every day,” Trump said, according to
an official with knowledge of the exchange.

Trump went on to discuss aspects of the threat that the United States
only learned through the espionage capabilities of a key partner. He
did not reveal the specific intelligence gathering method, but described
how the Islamic State was pursuing elements of a specific plot and how
much harm such an attack could cause under varying circumstances. Most
alarmingly, officials said, Trump revealed the city in the Islamic
State’s territory where the U.S. intelligence partner detected the
    threat.

The Washington Post is withholding most plot details, including the
name of the city, at the urging of officials who warned that revealing
them would jeopardize important intelligence capabilities.

    You duplicitous slime.

The narrative is: The WaPo reported a story that the NYT told CNN and now Business Insider reports unconfirmed information from unnamed sources that President Trump released classified information to Russia. They think it's classified, but don't really know. But because they want it to be classified, they're just running with that particular fabrication. They also fabricate some sort of violation on Trump's part that really doesn't exist, because it furthers the "Trump's an enemy agent" meme they have been aching so long to make stick. Reality be damned.

Go play in traffic, you bloody troll.
