Google Is Labeling A Trump-Supporting North Carolina Republican State Senator A “Bigot”

Google gives another lame excuse.
Via Vice:
Trudy Wade is a Republican state senator from North Carolina and an enthusiastic supporter of President Trump.
But if you search “Trudy Wade” on Google, the search giant displays an old photo in the “knowledge panel” of its search results with “BIGOT” superimposed in big red letters.
It’s just the latest example of Google not vetting the information that gets pulled into its “knowledge panels,” which are meant to give users quick information without them having to click through search results (often on other, non-Google websites).
Wade declined to comment to VICE News, but a legislative aide reacted angrily to the search results, adding that “the picture isn’t even current.”
Google’s “Bigot” picture has surfaced as Wade is in the midst of a tough re-election battle against marketing executive and Democrat Michael Garrett. The state’s district maps were redrawn for this election after several courts ruled that the state had been racially gerrymandered to benefit Republicans.
The newly redrawn state legislative districts have made Wade and the 27th district a top target for progressives in the state. The local Indivisible group “Flip NC” has deemed the 27th one of its top 10 “most flippable” Senate districts this year as Democrats attempt to break the Republican supermajority in the state legislature that allows Republicans to override the Democratic governor’s vetoes.
VICE News asked Google for comment before the story went online but did not receive a response. After the story was published, Google took down the photo and a Google spokesperson sent a statement that read: “Information and images from our Knowledge Panels are automatically sourced from around the web. When we are alerted to issues like this, we move quickly to fix the problem, as we did in this case.”

New York Attorney General: Let’s Prosecute People Twice For The Same Crime

Blatantly improper for making a political appeal from an official account. One can theoretically have different prosecutions in different jurisdictions (federal and state) and that isn’t double jeopardy. But many states including NY says they will not retry anyone who was tried for a federal crime for the same offense in the state, recognizing they’ve already been tried. But what the AG is arguing for the sole reason of being able to potentially prosecute Trump people is that they do away with that law.
Via Daily Wire:
On Thursday, after news broke that President Trump had pardoned Dinesh D’Souza for his campaign finance violations, the New York Attorney General’s office immediately tweeted out that they’d like to pass a state law to unjustifiably jail those who had been pardoned for federal crimes. In fact, they’d like to violate the constitutional prohibition on double jeopardy.
Yes, really.
Here’s their statement and tweet:

Tom Steyer: To Win Midterms, Democrats Must Promise to Impeach Trump

619

Jewel Samad / AFP / Getty 25 Jun 20184,481 Left-wing billionaire Tom Steyer is spending tens of millions of dollars on advertising urging that President Donald Trump be impeached — because he thinks it is the only way for Democrats to win the 2018 midterm elections.

The Los Angeles Times reports:
Tom Steyer, who has given tens of millions to Democratic candidates and causes, believes the party’s best hope is turning November into a referendum on Trump’s ouster; it’s the only way, the San Francisco hedge-fund billionaire insists, to engage voters who see little difference between the two major parties, or who’ve given up on politics because nothing in Washington ever seems to change.
“We lose election after election as a result of this,” said Kevin Mack, a strategist for Steyer and his political organization, Need to Impeach, which is crusading nationwide to get every Democratic candidate to commit to impeachment. In the meantime, according to the organization, more than 5 million people have signed a petition in support.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), who hopes to become Speaker again if Democrats regain their majority in November, has tried to discourage talk of impeachment — at least until after the election.
But other Democrats are campaigning on the issue.
In a re-eleciton ad, Rep. Michael Capuano (D-MA) touts his two votes to begin impeachment proceedings against Trump:
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA), who called on the public to “harass” members of the Trump administration this weekend, also renewed her call to impeach the president.
