Good to hear the claw hammer style banjo. It's an original hill style. I have yet to master it and may not. I just don't practice like I used to.
Here's another example of frail/ claw hammer.

Here's an example of the Scruggs style of banjo playing. Started in the 50's by Earl Scruggs, this style took off. It's played with finger picks and the banjos usually have a resonator to boost the sound. Bluegrass purists eschew this as a form of amplification, but popular has a quality all its own. This is the style I try to play, but am looking at going back in history to the frail and claw hammer styles.

Had a friend when I was in the Army and stationed at Hood, that picked a 12 string guitar, 3 finger style, and he was awesome.
