Update on my annoying tax situation: thanks for your prayers! It took 7 months and two certified letters to straighten out, but I officially don't owe Iowa taxes for 2013, and I finally have the letter that says so. (I moved to Iowa in September of 2013, but I didn't make money here until 2014).
They are doing their best to shake everyone down. When I tell this story, people are in disbelief that they reached back to 2013 . . . but it makes sense to me. The state doesn't want to live within their means, but they are going to have to start. They can only shake so much money out of people.
