    Default Gamma Lid Removal

I have about a dozen empty buckets with gamma lids that I would like to stack after removing the rings from the buckets.
Is there an easy way to remove the lid rings from the buckets without destroying the ring or the bucket??

Unfortunately, no. They are pretty well permanent.

f your talking about the Gamma lid ring you might try a heat gun and various sized pry-tools. having a weight inside the bucket will help hold it in place while working on it

    Thanks for the replies.
I was determined to get the rings off and I did by using a large common screwdriver and slowly prying them loose having to go around the ring edge several times on some while sitting on the edge of a chair with one foot in the bucket. No damage to the rings or the buckets.

Have to admit I had a little help. My 18 pound cat decided my foot was not doing the job and jumped into the first bucket to hold my foot down. Then when the ring was removed claimed the bucket as his and slept in it through the remainder of the ring removals.

I've seen something like that. It's for removing regular lids.

    Good kitty!

I'm glad you posted this thread, because I have a bucket with a Gamma lid on it. I've had the bucket for about 8 years, and it has developed a hole in it down near the bottom. It's a sturdy bucket, and I've used it for a multitude of uses since I emptied it out some years ago. I figured if I could get that ring off, I could maybe use it on another bucket. Do you know if they can be put on other buckets?

Grower, sturdy buckets don't "develop" holes. Mouses and squirrels develop holes ....

Put a tap in it and use it for a water dispenser ... but yeah, if you can get the ring off without damage it can be used elsewhere.

Sorry for the thread-neglect -- I just noticed your reply.
That was actually a polite way of saying, "It got busted open by something"....goat hoof? angry husband? grandkid with a hammer? I don't know how it happened, but it's got a definite crack about 3 inches up from the bottom that makes it leak liquids. I still use it when I weed the garden, to put the weeds in. In fact, as I sit here typing, it is on the floor next to me, full of heads off my sunflowers.

Be that as it may, I was curious if I could use the ring on another bucket (without a hole) if I can get it off.
