Hey,
This isn't so much a national news type story, even though it was scrolling on Fox last night.
The DOJ just re-opened the Emmett Tills case.
Summary of case.
In 1955 Emmett Tills a black boy age 14, visiting from Chicago, made a pass at a white man's wife at a store in Tallahatchie County, MS. The husband, and a friend kidnapped the boy, and beat him to death.
The all white jury deliberated one hour before declaring them not guilty.
Later in an interview the two men confessed to killing the boy. Due to double jeopardy no charges were filed. The two men are now dead.
The mother of the boy would not allow either a closed casket, or facial reconstruction on the boy. He appeared in an open casket, with an unrecognizable face for all the world to see.
It was the catalyst for the civil rights movement.

I'm wondering a couple of things:
1) Since everyone in the case is dead, why reopen even with new evidence?
2) With all the racial tension in the US these days, could this reopening be a new catalyst for a CW?
Thoughts?
