Just as a reminder OW, the cops had a "right" per the laws of Chicago to stop the man IF they believed he had a gun. Why? Because Chicago is a gun free zone.

All the man had to do was raise his hands, tell them he was armed, and that he had a permit. End of story. But he didn't. Even if he was illegally armed, but wanted the protection of a firearm, he could of done the same thing. The cops would have confiscated his weapon because Chicago is a gun free zone, BUT he would not be dead.

The point of posting this thread was to show the hypocrisy of the people in the streets of Chicago, on two counts.

    1) The people don't mind their neighbor on the right side of them, shooting the neighbor on the left side of them, but a cop better not.

    2) They protest to stop the violence, but when cops are attempting to do just that, enforce the law, and stop violence, they protest.

I can understand your distain for the overreach of big brother, the government, and not only do I get that, but also agree with it.

However, when the PEOPLE elect into office, officials who take away their rights, as in the 2A, not only are they getting what they voted for, what they deserve, but are giving them the authority to enforce the laws that they pass. To the people who live there, and don't agree with those laws, and don't want to live under those laws, my suggestion at the present, is to move. Especially if they voted in the pass for change, and were in the minority.

This pass Sat. not only did I pay out of my own pocket, but also spent the entire day, taking an Enhanced Carry safety class-10 hours. And the cost is not over. I will have to pay to get a passport photo, 4 pages of legal documents notarized, then make a trip to New Albany to the nearest MS Highway patrol office, of which I was told to get there at 6 AM, even though they open at 8, because they are so crowded if you don't, you won't get in that day, and pay another 112.00 for the license and fingerprinting.

Why would I do that, when I live in one of the few states in the US that is Permitless Carry? I don't have to have a permit to carry concealed, or open, so long as I am IN the state. Because there are legal restrictions, based on the rights of store owners, and government buildings, etc. And the big dummy that I am, I would forget when, and where those restrictions apply, AND the Enhanced Carry Permit not only overrides those restrictions, save a couple, it is recognized in almost every state (except Chicago).

Doing all that makes me LEGAL, and if a cop stops me, I can put my hands up, and tell them I am armed, and have a permit. All will be good, and I won't be dead. Like it, or don't like it, it is the law, and cops are authorized to use deadly force. Not following the law, like it or not, could make you dead.

Like I said, If you don't like the laws where you live, move, and I wish the socialist, and progressives, in this country, would.

    Totally agree.

In my opinion, and only in my opinion, what we have today rests solely on the shoulders of the voters. And not just in this last round, but going back to the time of Coolidge.

And the same goes for Chicago. The problems go back to the depression days, and prohibition. To be a bit snarky, if you will notice most the violent cities, are Democrat controlled, and have been for years, and years.

The governmental system has become so corrupt, that voting doesn't change anything. Because those you and I vote in, once they arrive in DC become corrupt, and it's a never ending cycle. AND just voting one person in like Trump, or Roy Moore, or whoever doesn't change a thing. One person doesn't change the system.

And to be honest in my situation the hoop jumping isn't so much to carry in my state, as I told you we are a Permitless State, with restrictions, and carrying concealed should mean no one knows when you break those restrictions, but rather to cross state lines. Mostly in mind is our son out in TX.

And remember in any situation involving a cop, there is a gun present, on the cop.
