Feds: Chicago Drug Dealer Had Customers Lined Up Around The Corner…
Even Captain Obvious wouldn’t have been fooled.
    Via Chicago Sun Times
James Triplett had his customers lined up around the corner in broad daylight, the feds say.
Not for concert tickets. Not for iPhones.
    For heroin.
Now 42 people are facing state or federal drug charges for their alleged roles in supplying and distributing heroin around West Grenshaw and Independence in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side. Among them is the 33-year-old Triplett, also known as “Trell,” who authorities said controlled the drug market in the area.
Investigators even included a photo in a federal criminal complaint spanning more than 200 pages. They said the photo depicts a line of people waiting June 16 to get their hands on heroin supplied by Triplett’s organization in the 3700 block of West Grenshaw.
The photo was taken just south of the Eisenhower Expressway, which has come to be known as “Heroin Highway.”
The feds said Triplett’s suppliers sometimes put the heroin in bags with logos that included green Playboy bunnies, Hershey kisses, basketballs, Batman, black pandas or “purple ladies.”

Twenty-nine people were shot, one fatally, in gun-controlled Chicago in the 18 hours that began Saturday morning at 2:30 a.m.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the deadly Saturday shooting occurred just “half a block north of Mount Sinai Hospital.” The victim was shot in the head and back. A 19-year-old was also shot and wounded in the incident.

In the shootings that followed, gunmen opened fire on individuals and groups alike. A single gunman opened fire on a pedestrian while driving down the road while families gathered on 31st Street Beach were targeted by others.
Throughout the violent 18 hours, witnesses reported hearing rapid fire gun shots in different areas. Some of the victims were as young at 14 years of age.

This latest run of gun violence comes just months after Chicago ended 2016 with nearly 4,400 shooting victims and nearly 800 homicides. And the first two months of 2017 saw increases in the number of shootings and fatalities over the same time period in 2016. In fact, the Tribune reported that 513 people were shot January 1 through February 27 alone, which was an increase of 37 victims over the 466 who were shot during the same time period in 2016.
The number of homicides January 1 through February 27 was 103, an increase of two victims over the 101 who were murdered during the same time period in 2016.
On January 28 Breitbart News reported an Independent Police Review Authority video that captured the sounds of gun-controlled Chicago during a shootout with a suspected murderer. The sounds are those of a war zone.

Arrest Warrant Issued for Northwestern Professor in River North Murder
CHICAGO (WLS) — Arrest warrants have been issued for a Northwestern University professor and a University of Oxford employee for the murder of a 26-year-old man last week in a River North apartment.
Wyndham Lathem, 42, and Andrew Warren, 56, are both considered armed and dangerous. They are wanted for first degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of 26-year-old Trenton Cornell-Duranleau.
They were last seen driving a 2007 grey Hyundai passenger 4-door vehicle with the Illinois license plate number of Z181268. Anyone who has seen the car or suspects should take extreme caution and either call 911 or Area Central Detectives at (312) 747-8380.
Cornell-Duranleau was found stabbed to death last Thursday in the Grand Plaza Apartments on State Street in the city’s affluent River North neighborhood…

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Is Suing Federal Government To Get $3.2m In Justice Assistant Grants

    Key word: Grants.
    Via Daily Mail:
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has announced that he will sue the federal government after the Trump administration threatened to withhold US grant funds.
The Democrat, who is also the former chief of staff for Barack Obama, said that the city will argue in court that grants can’t be withheld from cities as punishment for not cooperating enough with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials.
‘We’re not going to actually auction off our values as a city, so Monday morning the City of Chicago is going to court, we’re going to take the Justice Department to court based on this,’ Emanuel said.
‘We find it unlawful and unconstitutional to be, as a city, coerced on a policy.’ […]
Chicago law prohibits police from providing Immigration and Customs officials access to people in police custody, unless they are wanted on a criminal warrant or have serious criminal convictions.
Local police are also barred from allowing ICE agents to use their facilities for interviews or investigations and from responding to ICE inquiries or talking to ICE officials about a person’s custody status or release date.

'Zombie dogs' roaming near Chicago are infected coyotes, police warn

Published September 03, 2017 Fox News

Police warned residents to stay away from the "zombie dogs" because they are infected coyotes. (Hanover Park Police Department)

Police are warning residents of a Chicago suburb to avoid helping "zombie dogs" because they are infected coyotes that could sicken other pets with the disease.

Hanover Park Police Department posted the warning on its Facebook page on Wednesday, saying the coyotes, usually nocturnal animals, are infected with sarcoptic mange that causes them to be active in the day.

“Infected animals will often appear ‘mangy’ -- which looks just like it sounds. They suffer hair loss and develop secondary infections, eventually looking like some sort of ‘zombie’ dog,” the department said.

Police said the infected coyotes aren’t “typically aggressive,” but warned residents in the area to avoid them and keep them away from their pets, who can catch the contagious disease.
“Please DO NOT approach these animals or allow your pets to approach them. You can avoid attracting them to your yards and neighborhoods by not leaving food out and by securing your garbage,” the department said.
It’s common to spot coyotes in Illinois, especially in the southern, southeastern and west-central parts, according to the Department of Natural Resources. Though there hasn’t been a reported case of coyotes biting humans in northeastern Illinois.

Chicago Police Keep Peace By ‘Directing’ Large Groups Of Troublesome Teens To Express Trains

Marking the start of ‘Wilding’ season in Chicago.
    Via Chicago Tribune:
The large group of teens had been wandering downtown and along the lake Sunday evening, but police decided it was time for the group to leave.
The teens, numbering more than 100 and some deemed “borderline criminal” by police, were first steered onto Red Line trains that ran express from the Gold Coast to the South Side. Then they were chased from 31st Street Beach and began running through traffic on King Drive.
As the teens approached 38th Street, eight or 10 of them knocked a 15-year-old boy to the ground.
“I didn’t do nothing,” the boy protested, guarding his head with his arms as a teen stood over him and swung left-right, left-right while others kicked his ribs and back, an attack witnessed by a Tribune reporter. They kicked his face, they stomped his head. They emptied his pockets, they took his shoes.
Finally a police lieutenant pulled up and stood over the boy while waiting for help.
Chicago police spent much of Memorial Day weekend tracking and chasing groups of teens through downtown for what often began as “borderline criminal behavior” and sometimes ended in vandalism and fights. Officers shut down beaches and parks early, and “directed” large groups of teens toward trains and buses.
The holiday weekend trained a spotlight on the Police Department’s delicate strategy of keeping the peace downtown and along the lakefront — areas heavily trafficked by tourists — without resorting to more arrests or other heavy-handed tactics.
“I know there were some questions about us forcing people to get on CTA buses and what I can tell you is this: We didn’t force anybody,” Chicago police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said Tuesday. “We directed people to different stops — it’s simply a public safety issue.”
But Edwin Yohnka, spokesman for the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois, said reports of police funneling groups en masse to express trains were “incredibly troubling.”
“Who made that decision?” he said. “How were decisions made about who was going to be put on that train?”
Holiday weekends are traditionally more violent than other weekends in the summer, and the Police Department in recent years has turned to using overtime and canceling days off to put more officers on the street. This year, 1,300 more officers than usual were deployed.
Many of them were assigned downtown or detailed there from areas as far away as Morgan Park and Albany Park once supervisors realized they needed help. Officers descended on beaches and parks south of Fullerton Avenue, the downtown area that includes North Michigan Avenue and the South Loop.
All four nights of the holiday weekend, these extra patrols kept track of groups of teens as they arrived downtown on the Red Line and made their way to beaches and parks. Some lingered around Michigan Avenue or near CTA stations. The groups ranged in size from a few dozen to more than a hundred.
“They came down here specifically to cause problems,” Deputy Chief Al Nagode said. “They were running in and out of traffic, they were confronting different groups, they were running into businesses doing different activities that were borderline criminal, mostly nuisance, so the officers have to work that fine line of, do we (go) out there to arrest somebody.”
In one instance, teens damaged property at a Target store at Roosevelt Road and Clark Street, police said. There were reports of gunfire near the Bottled Blonde bar on Wells Street late Saturday, near LaSalle Drive and Ontario Street early Sunday and at Chicago Avenue and Lake Shore Drive early Monday. That night, officers reported people running from the sound of gunfire as crowds left North Avenue Beach.
“A lot of it is the nuisance that they’re doing. It’s part of what we get with teens,” Nagode said. “The resources it would take me to lock up 100 kids who were fighting would be tremendous, so we have to mitigate, stop the problem and do what’s necessary to make (everyone) safe.”

PERFECT STORM Of Law Enforcement Breakdown In Chicago Threatens To Unleash Massive Crimewave On City

by Nan and Byron McKeeby March 27, 2019 311 Comments

Guest post by Bright Start News

After a long and dark history of corruption, collusion, and in some cases, torture, law enforcement’s dysfunctional chickens are finally coming home to roost in Chicago.
Quite a retweet by CPD #2 spokesperson. https://t.co/aUHVcX2D7i
    — CWBChicago (@CWBChicago) March 27, 2019
    And that tweet was:

This latest chapter of outrage has been set off by the shocking dropping of charges against hate hoaxer, Jussie Smollett.
Just got a tip from my Chicago PD source that SA Kim Foxx is going to drop the charges against #JussieSmollett. The question @Chicago_Police now have for him is how does #smollett plan to reimburse the city for all the money that was spent on his investigation?
    — Rafer Weigel (@RaferWeigel) March 26, 2019
To say the police, whose valuable and precious time Jussie occupied over a hoax, are furious might be an understatement.
I can tell you that @Chicago_Police are furious over SA Kim Foxx’s decision to drop all charges against #JussieSmollett

But this is NOT the full story of law enforcement breakdown in Chicago. It’s merely the public tip of the iceberg. There’s another major case of law enforcement breakdown that’s making news in Chicago, but not so much nationally because it doesn’t involve a narrative that can be weaponized against Trump or his supporters.
In other Chicago news, a repeat criminal on electronic monitoring broke the terms of his agreement with the court by letting the battery on his ankle bracelet drain to empty. So, of course, the judge terminated his freedom monitoring and set him free. So of course, he allegedly murdered a cop.
Accused cop killer repeatedly violated court orders and probation terms, yet a judge released him from electronic monitoring and nighttime curfew just 2 weeks before off-duty officer was slain in River North on Saturday.

After pleading guilty to attempted burglary last August, Jackson was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet and to observe a 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew for six months. But, prosecutors say Jackson violated those terms by allowing his monitoring system’s batteries to drain out last month.
Jackson had nothing to worry about. Judge Claps would be treating him with the same kid gloves that Jackson had grown accustomed to enjoying in the Cook County justice system. Rather than punish Jackson for violating the terms of probation—rather than extending the monitoring and curfew period or sending Jackson to jail or prison—Claps ordered the curfew and monitoring to be terminated immediately. There would be no punishment for Jackson’s failure to live up to his probation terms.
This is all on the heels of a massive scandal involving the shooting death of Laquan McDonald, and subsequent attempted coverup by Chicago detectives.

This chronic and systemic dysfunction by police/prosecutors/judges is now resulting in an inevitable rise in violent crime across the city.

This is not to say everyone in Chicago law enforcement is corrupt. The majority are honest people just trying to make a living while also putting their lives on the line to keep the city safe(ish).
But they’re overwhelmed by a progressive system that is rotten to the core, and collapsing under its own weight.
This is what a dying city looks like.
