Nearly 13,000 residents were in the dark in Fullerton Monday night after a widespread power outage. The power went out at homes and businesses shortly after 9 p.m.. SoCal Edison is investigating the cause of the outage, but have not provided a timeframe for when the power will be restored.

Thousands lose power in Northeast D.C., authorities say

" Power was cut off Monday night to as many as 7,000 homes and businesses in the District, many of them in Northeast, near Capitol Hill according to Pepco.

One of the biggest of the outages was reported in an area around 16th and E Streets NE. It involved about 3,000 homes and businesses, the utility reported.

The utility said it had issues with equipment at a substation in Northeast. Jake Sneeden, a spokesman for the utility said efforts were underway to “reconfigure” the system to restore power to most of those affected by about 1 a.m.

The nature of the equipment problems could not be learned immediately.

As of 11 p.m. he said about 6,400 customers were affected.

A D.C. official said that in addition to Hill East, the Kingman Park and Trinidad neighborhoods were affected.

At least one member of the D.C. Council said he lost power.

"We're in the dark here," said a tweet from Charles Allen, who represents Ward 6. "

An d since I haven't seen it posted yet, we've been without power for the past 3 days and no cable either! Barry caused tons of broken limbs, tons of leaves and just a pain in the a$$. The only thing that can be said of Barry is that it was a most unusual storm. Usually, a ts hits and then quickly passes, dumping a couple of inches of rain and doing little damage including electrical and cable lines. Not Barry. He crawled along at a robust 5mph and tore the place up. So, down on da bayou, we're alive and well, power back on and now the cleanup begins. It was a good test of what will happen when an emp strikes. found a few 'holes' in the pantry and elsewhere but overall not bad. prep and pray, the end has arrived.

Last I heard, Hurricane Barry left over 100,000 without power in Louisiana. I posted about it on my other power outage topic on another forum I frequent.

We didn't get a drop of rain from Barry here in my east Texas hometown. Most of the rain has gone straight up the Mississippi River valley area that has already been flooding.
