NBC's Universal Pictures plans to release 'The Hunt' despite backlash


" NBC Universal still plans to release the controversial movie "The Hunt" as scheduled on September 27 despite significant backlash over the film that depicts privileged vacationers hunting "deplorables" for sport....

.... "The Hunt" is billed as a satirical take on wealthy thrill-seekers taking a private jet to a five-star resort where they embark on a "deeply rewarding" expedition that involves hunting down and killing designated humans....

... The Hollywood Reporter reported on Tuesday that the "violent, R-rated film from producer Jason Blum's Blumhouse follows a dozen MAGA types who wake up in a clearing and realize they are being stalked for sport by elite liberals."

According to the Hollywood trade publication, characters in the film refer to the victims as "deplorables," which is what Hillary Clinton infamously dubbed Trump supporters during the 2016 election.

There has already been a movie about wealthy elite hunting homeless people. I saw it. Wasn't bad. Rutger Hauer and Ice T.

I recently caught a movie on Netflix which featured an invasion of racist rednecks who formed a coalition of southern states and ceded from the Union, striking first at the northern cities.

This isn't new or novel. It's not even that creative of a concept. But who knows? What would you think if it turned out that a bunch of elite liberals captured some "good ol' boys" and turned them loose in the woods to hunt, but it backfired when those good ol' boys turned out to be better than they did at wilderness survival?

I'd watch that.

I believe AJ callas this Predictive Programing. There have been dozens of manhunt type movies and TV shows but never have the producers been so PROUD of the fact that the victims are average tradcon Americans, the original script has MAGA hat wearing Republicans being tortured and murdered. This is not a freak movie, it is the start of a trend, why do you think Obamas are now movie producers? .

Netflix is toast, not just for hiring the Obama couple as curators/advisors.

I'd have to see more of the material than a promotional blurb to accurately decide what they were trying to do. Including who is in the movie.

It might be dreck. It might be solid. This liberal-conservative divide is a huge part of the zeitgeist right now. I'm surprised there's not more depictions of it in MORE media.
