lenno you need to be headed south, central idaho either east or west is pretty good, but anything north of grangeville will be what you are leaving, north idaho is very liberal, almost socialist................anything along the I-84 corridor is flooded with illegals and refugees, very unstable for both economical and racial peace.................
I live in Lemhi county and you either have to bring a trade with you or be retired..........I'm only about an hour and half to shop in Hamilton Montana, which is great no sales tax unlike here in idaho.............we're pretty laid back here and almost everybody packs to include women......................heavy morman influence here but that is to be expected............

my recommendation is if you buy and move, ditch the license plates as you cross the state line and come in quiet and listen to the folks..........recently had a new yorker move here I know and cautioned him on same, he came in blowing how smart he was and well, he didn't last long and is now back in his safe room in new york...............
if I can be any assistance feel free in PM'ing me for contact info for maybe a meet up or info if you so inclined...have lived north, central and south idaho so I have a pretty good understanding of the state..........only guidance I can share now is to increase speed in which you are moving to relocate...
Even though I was born on the coast of washington, the state and what it has turned into totally disgusts me to no end..............
If you have the coin there are some dynamite off grid remote property's for sale,

Thanks for the info, I'm in Kamiah tonight, I looked at a new property today, very nice but surrounded by homes and 2500ft so it would be cold.
what county are you in? You mentioned Hamilton, are you in Salmon?

you don't want anything much north of grangeville. Everything north of that is either run by liberal college types (Moscow region), or former Commiefornians (Kootenai County, Shoshone County), with pockets of same anywhere near a lake (Pend Orielle, Priest, et.al.)

    Mid-state, different country altogether.
