So he 'discussed it' doesn't mean he will go through with the negative rates. He discussed alone with other ways at the same time. Doom and gloom at its best I am glad he has discussed Multi ways to share up the economy and get business back on track. Doesn't mean negative rates are a coming either.

Not only has Trump been repeatedly hounding Fed Chairman Powell [who Trump appointed] to keep lowering interest rates... Trump has also been repeatedly advocating negative interest rates.

I've posted several topics here about negative interest rates.

Below is a quote from my September 11 topic [ironic date !]

    TRUMP TWEETS
    NEGATIVE INTEREST RATES !!

FOX Business news just reported this... here are related news articles

Trump: Fed should get US interest rate 'down to ZERO, or less'

    Sep 11, 2019

" [WASHINGTON] - President Donald Trump wants US "interest rates down to ZERO, or less," he tweeted Wednesday amid widespread expectations that the Federal Reserve will cut rates later this month.

"We should then start to refinance our debt. INTEREST COST COULD BE BROUGHT WAY DOWN, while at the same time substantially lengthening the term," he added.

"It is only the naivete of Jay Powell and the Federal Reserve that doesn't allow us to do what other countries are already doing. A once in a lifetime opportunity that we are missing because of 'Boneheads.'"

Trump urges zero or negative interest rates to tackle US debt - Reuters

" Trump, in a pair of Twitter posts, said negative rates would save the government money on its debt. He did not address the risks or financial market tensions that central banks in Europe and Japan have confronted as a result of their negative rate policy, or the larger issue that negative rates have not done much to boost growth or raise inflation as intended.

"The Federal Reserve should get our interest rates down to ZERO, or less, and we should then start to refinance our debt. INTEREST COST COULD BE BROUGHT WAY DOWN, while at the same time substantially lengthening the term," Trump tweeted. "We have the great currency, power, and balance sheet... The USA should always be paying the ... lowest rate. No Inflation!"

"It is only the naïveté of (Fed Chairman) Jay Powell and the Federal Reserve that doesn't allow us to do what other countries are already doing," added Trump, who has repeatedly noted that rates are negative in Germany, Europe's trading powerhouse. "

What if Trump's unscheduled trip to the hospital and Trump's unscheduled meeting with the Fed discussing negative interest rates is symbolic of the economy sick and dying ?!

Why does Trump repeatedly advocate negative interest rates ?

Maybe Trump wants to destroy the US economy ?!

Remember Trump's "Rolling Stones" theme song:

You can't always get what you want... you get what you need

Reminds me of this Bible verse about the fall of Babylon:

"Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain,
Who destroys all the earth," says the LORD.

"I will stretch out My hand against you,
Roll you down from the rocks
And make you a burnt mountain."

    Jeremiah 51:25

May be just the start of a busy week planned to keep him away from the TeeVee:

White House plans counterprogramming to distract from impeachment hearings

President Trump's public schedule next week is designed to keep him distracted from the televised hearings — and to counterprogram Week 2 of those hearings.

With the crap the Dems have pulled I can only vote for Trumps second term..But he should let the fed do its job and stay out of it..
I don't like the feds control of our money but if the economy is as robust as they say..Lets leave rates alone and see where it goes..

Negative interest rates would be stimulative; they'd surely keep the bull market rolling, at least through the elections. With negative interest rates people hunting gains or income would have no choice but the stock market or real goods like land or PMs.
