I just got in for the evening. I passed four or five gas stations that had gas on the way home. All of them had cars waiting in line and the price per gallon was up twenty to forty cents since yesterday.

Remember how COVID started; 'just 15 days to flatten the curve'?

To me it sounds like the ransomware infected the PLCs (base layer of control). They would have to get new ones (you don't buy them at Best Buy), or pay the ransom. They would also have to program those logic controllers (I would expect the pipeline to not be fully functional for months).

Thanks for the situation update, Doctor Dinero.
Why did this company make themselves so vulnerable? Seems pretty stupid to me.
Maybe they want to lose $s and be forced to discount their interest to someone who may have been involved in the sabotage.

Companies loosened their cybersecurity requirements to allow offsite work for COVID (they may have thought it was secure, or accidently left a door open). It will be interesting to read the root cause analysis to learn from.

On the way home I saw gas is $3.09 per gallon at a local convenience store. WSB radio reported gas is $3.49 per gallon in Mableton GA.

Mid Atlantic will be the hardest hit (no refining). North East can receive shipments via new york harbor. FL gets a lot of product by ship already.

North Carolina and Virginia have declared states of emergency.
