Default The Apostle John Doesn't Play -

As for boldness, Yochanon (John) is hard to beat. Right to the point, no mincing words. His love for Messiah screams off the page, making darn sure people do not mock or belittle the favor of Messiah. IOW, not to continue in the very same sins that were to have been repented from. Right off the bat, he tells the reader DO NOT transgress Torah!

“My little children, these things write I unto you, that you SIN NOT. And IF any man sin, we have an Advocate with the Father, Yahusha Ha’Mashiach the righteous: And He is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world”.

Here he provides a no nonsense litmus test that one may KNOW if we are truly abiding in Him or just playing church. Guarding the commandments is defined in Dt 4:2; no adding - no taking away. He has no problem calling those who deviate liars, devoid of truth, with a couple firm HEREBY declarations -

“And HEREBY WE DO KNOW that we know him, IF WE GUARD his commandments. He that says, I know him, and guards not his commandments, is a liar, and the Truth is not in him. But whoso guards His word, IN HIM truly is the love of Elohiym PERFECTED: HEREBY know we that we are in Him”.

False sun-day? Eating swine? Keeping pagan festivals? That’s being a LIAR. He’s trying to warn people! Also in the above, we are told how the love of Yah is perfected. Again, by guarding His Words. It’s all about our walk of restoration, finding The Way back, aligning with His perfect ways, how He wants to be loved -

“Blessed are the perfect in THE WAY, who walk in the Torah of Yahuah.” Psa 119:1

“The Torah of Yahuah is perfect, restoring the soul...” Psa 19:7

But, “I’m a christian!” “I love jesus!” “I’m on fire for the lord!” Really? Or is it a matter of “or so you say”? And again, the apostle weeds out the Torahless by informing us that a debt is owed, the payment due is paid by a daily installment of lifelong obedience - by emulating His walk. Without Torah, that walk is impossible! His walk was fully in Torah. His coming Kingdom will be fully Torah.

He that says he abides in Him MUST (INDEBTED, OBLIGATED) himself also so to walk, even as He walked.” 1Jn 2:1-6

“Yahusha said unto him, I am THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.” Joh 14:6

The Living Word, Torah made flesh! (Ps. 119:1, 142, Pro 13:14).

Here, it almost seems like the Ruach led him to speak these words for an anticipated future time where any deception about “what commandments” were being referred to. ALL the words from the very beginning -

“Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is THE WORD which ye have heard FROM THE BEGINNING.” 1Jn 2:7 (Matt 4:4)

The Way to the tree of life was blocked (Gen 3:24), he’s trying to show us The Way back!

“Because narrow is the gate, and troublesome is THE WAY, which leads to life, and few there be that find it.” Mat 7:14

“But this I confess unto you, that after THE WAY which they call heresy, so worship I the Elohiym of my fathers, believing ALL THINGS which are written in the Torah and in the prophets” Act 24:14

“For the commandment is a lamp; and the Torah is light; and reproofs of instruction are THE WAY of life” Pro 6:23

“Blessed are THEY THAT DO his commandments, that THEY MAY HAVE RIGHT to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” Rev 22:14

His Way is the only Way!

    Shabbat Shalom, Hodu l’YHUH!
"The one who says he stays in Him is indebted to walk, even as He walked." 1Jn 2:6

Without Torah, His walk is impossible - it's Rome's walk without Torah.

Love your inspired writing! All the (other) ways of a man are right in his own eyes...There is a way that SEEMS right to a man....His Way IS the only way that leads to life!

Luke quotes YahShua speaking about those who refuse His Law (Torah):
'Those Mine enemies who would not that I reign over them, bring hither and slay them before Me." Luke 19:27

Oh no! That sounds like that 'old testament' God! Thought we got rid of Him!

    How so?
Perhaps you misunderstand the meaning behind my tag line.

Were you not scorning the Messiah, Who, in times of change, was a scarce man, brave and hated. Yet, when His cause succeeds you will join Him in His kingdom, wherein dwelleth righteousness, and though it cost you nothing, you will delight yourself in the abundance of peace, when He succeeds in ousting those who love not the truth, the evildoers who hate peace?

Not in the least. I put in bold what I was referring to. Found it to be a bit brutal and twisted.

Much respect to him for that.

Indeed, He is worthy of much respect! Very glad that you see that!
