i re-discovered an old recipe tonight and thought i'd share. in typical patticakes fashion, i'll post the original recipe and then tell you what i actually did.

A Different Way to Fix Hotdogs:

1/2 lb. hotdogs (chopped)
1/2 lb. shredded american cheese
1/4 cup mayo or salad dressing
2 Tbsp. chopped onion
2 Tbsp. relish or chopped pickles
2 Tbsp. mustard
8 hotdog buns

Combine all ingredients. Stuff hotdog buns. Bake at 350 for 1/2 hr. that's it. you're done!

now, what i actually did was:

1/2 lb. hotdogs (chopped) i used a whole package. not sure if that's a 1/2 pound or not.
1/2 lb. shredded american cheese
1/4 cup mayo or salad dressing (i use mayo)
2 Tbsp. chopped onion
2 Tbsp. relish or chopped pickles (i use relish)
2 Tbsp. mustard
8 hotdog buns

after i chopped the hotdogs, i put them in the frying pan on low just to warm them through. then, turn the heat off and add the rest of the ingredients. the heat from the pan and the dogs is enough to melt the cheese and heat the rest of the stuff through. this way, you only need to put the stuffed buns in the oven for about 5 or 10 minutes (unless you like really crispy buns - i don't).

quick, easy and cheap!
