Arrow heads up--Meleanie Hain, PA Soccer Mom may have been shot in her own home tonight

THis is the Lebanon.PA woman who stirred controversy by openly carrying a handgun to her child's soccer game filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming that her rights were violated and seeking more than $1 million in damages.

Meleanie Hain's concealed weapons permit was revoked Sept. 20 by Lebanon County Sheriff Michael DeLeo, who maintained she showed poor judgment wearing her gun to her daughter's soccer game Sept. 11. The permit was reinstated Oct. 14 by Lebanon County Judge Robert Eby.

Just got a call from a family member who lives down the street from this lady and her family-- informed me that there is currently a domestic violence issue, involving the husband

The details are not clear, but it appears she may have allegedly been shot and killed by her hubby who is in a standoff with the police , and her children are still in the home with him..again speculation as this info is just coming in.

Several shots were heard by neighbors who called the incident in and several blocks are shut down as the police try to determine who has been injured, some reports are suggesting she was shot as many as five times and again the primary concern are her children in the house

The police are swarming all over the place and trying to get the kids out.
Such a tragic story,if indeed she had been killed , and prayers sure need to go out here for all involved.

This story is obviously going to be breaking in the news over the days to come as it involved guns. As I said, no immediate details are available, and will have to wait for the news later..I have no tv so I am relying upon personal friends to keep me up on them as the story develops.

Damn... that sounds bad.

Wondering... (no idea who this is, really)... do you suppose she was carrying 24/7 BECAUSE she was afraid of the husband?

Hmmmm...

But if so, it didn't do her any good. Dang - just dang; those poor children.

I should probably shut up and wait for something resembling a story on this, but...

If my conjecture is correct, no, it didn't do her any good. And that's a fairly decent reminder (no matter how the story comes out here) that "owning a weapon" is NOT the same as being "fully armed". If you're not both physically trained with that weapon (fairly simple- just takes time, practice and money) AND psychologically capable of KILLING another human with it (FAR more difficult- some may not be able to adjust to the idea)... you're just a potential corpse with a gun attached.

Well sadly more information here..
It was confirmed that that it was this lady, she is dead and her husband Scott killed himself as well .

The children are Ok, I understand they had three, and they ran from the house traumatized and screaming that Daddy had shot mommy..

Just horrible..

I didn't know them personally, just followed the local news here regarding her case, and the controversy of their lawsuit against the Sheriff involved with her carrying her gun at the soccer game. Its my understanding that Scott was a Parole officer at Wernersville.

The general concensus in the rumor mill that it was his occupation that led her to decide to get a gun per her..that they had personal/.private relationships with the law enforcement here locally prior to her wearing the gun publically that may have been in regard to those issues, and making a statement so to speak.

Publically she never alluded to why she chose to get her gun except it was something she had felt strongly about for awhile...had owned it for a while before the incident at the soccer game..

Clearly there was a great deal going on regarding their relationship that is not public info nor can I offer any insights to their personal relationship apart from the fact he did alledge in the suit they filed that as a husband, their intimate relationship had suffered, and was requesting damages.
Regardless..its such a tragedy, and my heart goes out to those poor children and what they went thru tonight.

Her case was pending to be filed for the cival damages they were seeking over all of this and still a topic in many forums regarding the issues of carying a gun in public, obviously that will not proceed as both parties are deceased.

Just heartbreaking for those children ..and clearly no one deserves to die as this woman did.

Quite a sad report to hear. That does seem to be the pattern of much domestic violence. Man kills woman, then commits suicide.

Very sad for the children as well.
