I actually didn't think it was that cheesy at all. The acting was very very good and the story line was something we should all be paying attention to.

I'm not being disparaging! I was the biggest "V" fan out there! (Well, me and my sweet Granny--we watched it together faithfully!)

Frankly alot of the 80's shows had a cheese quality. The effects were dated compared to todays computer stuff, but other than that the acting and story line were superb through and through.

That's really what I meant by "cheesy". My teenager snorted w/laughter when he first started watching b/c of the special effects. BUT... he was soon enthralled! All of my kids love that series. I can't tell you how many times we've watched V--both the miniseries and the tv series. Good stuff. It's very thought provoking. We have had many good discussions that stemmed from watching V.

Back then they were pretty much the special effects of the day given the venue. Remember the old Japanese monster flicks from the 50's, 60's? We were laughing at them in the seventies. Of course, I'm not sure they ever evolved.

Getting back to the original V, I loved that series.

Default messaging in the series?

ok... so up here in Toronto area its on CTV.. there is a lot of creepy analogies to current times, but this week my wife and noticed some wierd things.

first commercial break, the first words pop out was an ad for the Canada olympic team ad that just said " believe"

second break " believe" again

I wish I recorded the thing as it aired. because there were two more commercials that seemed to place a bit of programming into ones head.

the last and worst of this past episode was when the priest gets a shank from a V, the Camera pans up... (I missed it at first my my wife caught it)
the crucifix lighting and angle appeared more like a Goat of Mendes!
earlier episode had the cross falling and so of course it went upside down.

It might not be a far stretch to consider that once again, there is blatent messaging coming from this.

something is coming that wants to pretend to be our saviours.

I thought it was interesting how the visitors were going to use the flu vaccine to kill people.
