12/18 US Market Watch -- Fed Day Edition (Taper or No Taper?)

Futures up a little.

The Fed is expected to either announce the start of the QE taper or explain more of its possible timing.

Me, I don't see them pulling the trigger yet, but we will see...

QE and beyond... no tapering as that is all that is left of the markets. Without that, the collapse is within days, not years.

The taper is one of those things I'll believe when I see...

But the Fed is sometimes full of surprises...

I predict no way will they taper. Not in December, not at Christmas, and not on Helicopter Ben's last meeting.

I'm moving $$$ back into my IRA's later today for tomorrow and short term after NO Taper is announced.

If there's a taper, then I'll keep my $$$ out and bet we'll see another small correction starting.

Indices sinking a bit after opening higher.

Dow +20 or so, Nasdaq -18, S&P -2.

The question is, how will the markets react after the decision.

You'd think taper = down and no taper = up.

But you never know. I think they just want certainty in one direction or the other. Even if they do start the taper, they're not going to pull away the punch bowl all at once...
