I don't think folks on the left have a monopoly on economic ignorance - it's a pretty general phenomenon. But I will say this; Folks on the left are particularly clueless. At least on the right, there is a part of the ideology that is very sincere about economics specifically. The right is fairly focused and most conservatives have at least a working understanding of the concepts.
And I mean this as no insult to the left. Economics is universally misunderstood. But a liberal could look straight into a camera and agree to ban all corporate profits. Economics is not a part of their ideology as it is to conservatives. They just don't get it at a certain level, at least down at the grass roots. Spend some time posting to the Daily Kos or Democratic Underground. You'll see what I mean.
