How apropos:
DECEMBER 16, 1773 ![]() "Once vigorous measures appear to be the only means left to bringing the Americans to a due submission to the mother country, the colonies will submit." -King George III On May 10, 1773, the British parliament authorized the East India Co., which faced bankruptcy due to corruption and mismanagement, to export a half a million pounds of tea to the American colonies for the purpose of selling it without imposing upon the company the usual duties and tariffs. With these privileges, the company could undersell American merchants and monopolize the colonial tea trade. Not only did this action create an unfair commerce to the merchants of the colonies but it proved to be the spark that revived American passions about the issue of taxation without representation. To fully understand the resentment of the colonies to Great Britain and King George III, one must understand that this was not the first time that the colonists were treated unfairly. In previous years, the 13 colonies saw a number of commercial tariffs including the Sugar Act of 1764, which taxed sugar, coffee, and wine, the Stamp Act of 1765, which put a tax on all printed matter, such as newspapers and playing cards, and the Townshend Acts of 1767 which placed taxes on items like glass, paints, paper, and tea. The Tea Act of 1773 was the last straw. ![]() "If our trade be taxed, why not our lands, in short, everything we posses? They tax us without having legal representation." -Samuel Adams Three ships from London, the Dartmouth, the Eleanor and the Beaver, sailed into Boston Harbor from November 28th to December 8, 1773. Loaded with tea from the East India Company, they were all anchored at Griffin’s Wharf but were prevented from unloading their cargo. Fearing that the tea would be seized for failure to pay customs duties, and eventually become available for sale, something had to be done. Demanding that the tea be returned to where it came from or face retribution, the Sons of Liberty, led by Samuel Adams began to meet to determine the fate of the three cargo ships in the Boston harbor.
On the cold evening of December 16, 1773, a large band of patriots, disguised as Mohawk Indians, burst from the South Meeting House with the spirit of freedom burning in their eyes. The patriots headed towards Griffin's Wharf and the three ships. Quickly, quietly, and in an orderly manner, the Sons of Liberty boarded each of the tea ships. Once on board, the patriots went to work striking the chests with axes and hatchets. Thousands of spectators watched in silence. Only the sounds of ax blades splitting wood rang out from Boston Harbor. Once the crates were open, the patriots dumped the tea into the sea. The silence was broken only by the cry of "East Indian" as patriots caught Charles O'Conner filling the lining of his coat with tea. George Hewes removed O'Connor's coat, threatened him with death if he revealed the identity of any man present, and sent him scurrying out of town. The patriots worked feverishly, fearing an attack by Admiral Montague at any moment. By nine o'clock p.m., the Sons of Liberty had emptied a total of 342 crates of tea into Boston Harbor. Fearing any connection to their treasonous deed, the patriots took off their shoes and shook them overboard. They swept the ships' decks, and made each ship's first mate attest that only the tea was damaged. When all was through, Lendall Pitts led the patriots from the wharf, tomahawks and axes resting on their shoulders. A fife played as they marched past the home where British Admiral Montague had been spying on their work. Montague yelled as they past, "Well boys, you have had a fine, pleasant evening for your Indian caper, haven't you? But mind, you have got to pay the fiddler yet!" Montague's words were to be an omen for the patriots. The party was indeed over for Boston.

Phil Gingrey (R-Ga) on Fox News live says it's not a done deal. They're talking about the blue dog democrats that might bolt from Pelosi.
Hey, the fat lady has not sung. Not til one side has enough votes tomorrow. NOT 'TIL THEN!

I'm a Vietnam veteran. We learned never to give up. We had all the odds stacked against us.
Reporters from the liberal media came over there all the time. Sometimes they would even dare to venture into the boonies. That's where I stayed. A Washington Post reporter came to see us one time. What a nice guy he seemed to be. Real friendly and asked us alot of questions, off the cuff it seemed. What we didn't realize is he came with an agenda. The liberals in the government and the liberal press decided the war was lost and he was sent to do his job in shading his story to reflect that to the American people. When we saw the article in the Post later we were so disheartened. We couldn't believe anyone could twist everything we said and everything we did so well and lie on us and deceive us with his real intentions. We also had Ed Kennedy, Shriver, Mondale, protest marchers, et al to contend with. Even our own family members! Sometimes we thought, why do we keep up the fight? Our government, our press, even crowds of people on the news were against us. We determined to give it our best though and believe that we could turn things around. We came home. Years later, under the Reagan Administration, we were invited to march across America in the Veterans Day Parade and there were alot of people who welcomed us home. Then we saw the Berlin Wall fall and then the Soviet Union fell. We felt, and still do, we had a hand in wearing them down in the field and making then spend themselves bankrupt on their military. A latent victory but a victory! Now we are facing a bunch of dead looking, lying, cheating, deceiving so-called leaders that come to the microphone everyday since Thursday and announce that they have a deal. Everyday we find out that they are lying and they do not. They are lifeless. Can't you see it? They have no life. They are walking dead men and woman. Full of lies and deceit. They are trying to bluff their way to victory. They are trying to deceive their members into making a deal that they have crafted. On the other hand, I have seen their opponents. The House Republicans. They have the annointing. Can't you see it? They are tough and their faces are sharp like flint. They have fire in their eyes! They have a mission and will not be sidetracked and will not receive the lies and tricks of the other side. I see they are still fighting tonight. Steel backbones I see. This attitude of the few, with the Lord's annointing, can turn the tide and win victory in the day of battle. I am praying for them to stay strong and keep their eyes on the goal. They have thrown the tea into the water. Some are yelling, "The British are coming, the British are coming". They do not seem afraid. Not at all, even tonight. The cameramen are doing all they can not do let the world see them. I pray that their consciences will not fail in their hour of trial. The battle is not over until the votes are counted. Miracles were made for such an hour as this. I believe in miracles!

NEVER GIVE UP!
NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER GIVE UP! Winston Churchill I know the Republican leadership has joined the opposition. They've been with them all along. It's not the Republican leadership that's gonna stop this thing. The annointing is on the House Republicans. If they lost a few today who knows that they may have gained more by tomorrow? And don't forget the Blue Dog Democrats. There is a posibility! And surely don't forget God. His will will be done! Not Pelosi's, not Reid's, not Dodd's and surely not Frank's. I love the Lord. His Word is full of examples of the few winning when the odds were stacked against them. Remember Moses? Remember Joshua? Remember David? Remember Caleb? Remember Mordecai? And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few. (1 Samuel 14:6)

Could we start recall elections for all those congress critters that voted for the bail out that aren't up for re-election? That might get their attention as to how mad we really are.

The market is up 250 points. So the doom that they predicted wasn't such doom after all, it's just a lot of bluster and fear mongering to garner support for this horrendous bill which was defeated. No doubt they will try again but they are running out of tactics, the crash the stock market tactic doesn't seem to be working for them........
